Medlock is signed to Paper Wasp Recordings, the Maryland-based, micro-indie label founded in 2004 to showcase British songwriters living in the eastern US. Based in both Atlanta, Georgia, and Washington DC, this indie-soul duo first played together two decades ago at Birmingham University in the grey British Midlands. Finding themselves on the same land mass once more, the two made the effort to re-unite and re-ignite a creative spark once born of a mutual hatred of “fookin’ students”, but now fuelled by the experience of lost loves and failed careers. The press release for Medlock’s ‘Love Happens’ EP, brought out in early 2006, says it all: “Medlock’s ‘Love Happens’ EP frames four sensibility-soaked songs within hooks and melodies that will creep into your soul in a way more immovable than love itself. Give these four songs at least four spins and try to claim they didn’t get inside your head like some never-forgotten object of your obsession. It’s spring. It’s time to feel alive again.” This was followed by the nine excellent songs on the Smash The Clocks mini-LP, the label’s first 2007 release, four songs from which are available here for exclusive download. In June 2009, after many delays caused by the lax postal system between Maryland and Georgia, Medlock released a four-track EP, 'Springtime', just in time for the... summer. Well, what sort of cynics would try to cash in on the seasons?

Love your songs, even though they should be too breezy for dark-eyed souls like us. Keep up the great work, maybe see you down the studio soon. Love from the Juncoes xxx
