Influences
Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Led Zeppelin, KISS, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, AC/DC, Jimi Hendrix, Grateful Dead, Quiet Riot, Yngwie Malmsteen, Van Halen, ZZ Top, Pantera, Sepultura, Hoobastank, Triumph, Quiet Riot, Ozzy, Sammy Hagar, KISS, Inxs, Puddle Of Mudd, Jackyl, Edguy, Grim Reaper, and many others.
Our main influences though is St. Louis radio of the past - most namely KSHE 95, 97.1 The Rock, KPNT and KIHT radio. This is the music I grew up and continue to grow with. This is the music which is tied deeply into so many memories and good times but which is severely lacking in modern corporate radio on the FM and satellite dial. We are what radio used to be when radio was cool. I stress - was. And let's not even get into that crap called satellite and HD radio.
Simply put - are you a rock music fan? Are you one of those people who, like me, grew up when broadcast radio stations actually rocked? Remember when the DJ's actually knew something about the music they were playing? Remember when you turned on the radio, picked a station and left it jamming until bedtime?
Then fuck Uncle Sam, WE WANT YOU! (Plus, the Government SUCKS)
This is Megarock Radio and we have music for damn near everyone - except people who don't like good rock.
I began the station in the mid 90's because all of the stations in my town
sucked so much ass it made me want to puke. Fucking corporate buyouts of every
good rock station in town and the never ending influence of the blow hard record
labels left us with little to nothing but the same old shit day in and out. So I
started putting my own personal record collection up on the internet and began
allowing others to listen to it. This was long before even the first 'internet
radio' stations ever appeared on the internet and long before Napster.
Years later we have rocked millions and millions of people and continue to
be one of the most successful stations out there? Why? The reason is simple -
listen to all the other stations and tell me what you hear. If you say 'little
closed minded formats that play one type of rock and one type only" you're
right. Most of our competitors out there in the past and present play only one
type of music. Maybe it's gothic metal, maybe it's classic rock, maybe it's 80's
hair bands - but it's damn near impossible to find a station that plays a little
bit of everything and that's what makes us unique. You won't hear this kind of
rock mix anywhere else in this high of quality for free but here.
The station came about from my own musical influences from listening to my
hometown station KSHE-95 which more or less began as an underground rock radio
station. The DJ's definitely were not these corporate trained morons we have all
over anymore - these guys (and yes, gals) knew rock music because they were fans
too. From the early days on I learned about bands like Zeppelin, Floyd, Hendrix,
Rush, Skynyrd, KISS, Deep Purple, Metallica, Ratt, Megadeth, Slayer, Atreyu ..
you name it and they played it. When you grow up around music like that plain
old corporate radio just don't cut it. You need a kind of mix of rock music that
most are afraid to touch. We're not.
If you're like me and you dig the fuck out of kick ass rock and roll with
no boundaries then add yourself as a friend today and join us as we rock this
fucking planet like it's never been rocked before!

Hi Megarock Radio, Heaven & Earth is on hiatus now as Stuart Smith and Richie Onori have joined forces with bassist Steve Priest to reform "Sweet". For those of you unfamiliar with the band, Sweet originally formed in the early 70s and went on to sell over 40,000,000 albums with 11 International Top Ten Hits such as "Ballroom Blitz", "Little Willy", "Love is Like Oxygen", "Fox on the Run", "Teenage Rampage", "Action", "Blockbuster", "Hellraiser" and many others. This reincarnation of the band reformed last year, playing their first show in June, and went on to play festivals throughout Canada and the States and had played to over 300,000 people before the year was out. During this tour last year they recorded a live CD available on Amazon entitled "Sweet, Live in America" which has received rave reviews - pick up a copy and please Add Sweet As Your Friend On Myspace! http://www.myspace.com/thesweetband Also, check out our friend Red Hot Chili Pepper Chad Smith's new band, Chad Smith's Bombastic Meatbats and their iTunes Top 10 Funk/Jazz debut release, "Meet the Meatbats"! http://www.myspace.com/bombasticmeatbats

"DJ Monkey …soul-stirring, excitingly edgy music…just disturbing (read ‘mind-f**king’) enough to demand attention. There is a whole spice rack of auditory flavors here, served up like fractured poetry on a collection of intensely listenable Hallmark cards from Hell." Bill Margold, Cinema Seen, L.A. X..Press
You will get e-mail from us soon enough! In the meantime, go and check out the samples and stories about our debut album "Dream Machine" now on our profile and in the blog.
