Mello Music Group provides music for the soul, from the heart of American culture, opening the realm of the intelligent Hiphop experience through melodic evocations, beats that corroborate the truth, and voices that roar above the rising void and impose order on the terrible & triumphant moments of everyday life. This is the compelling sound of Mello Music Group.
Dudley Perkins veteran to the game, whose voice overflows with bluesy, syncopated veracity. He never hits the notes you expect, rhymes to the cadence you imagined, or sounds like anyone else: Dudley captivates with the unmistakable sound of experience, reaching deeper within our collective conscious than most of us are comfortable with. Dudley breaths a spiritual wind back into the supercool, fOnked out vibrations of Hiphop. “SomeOthaShip” is on the way. The fOnk will set you free.
Georgia Anne Muldrow radiates light into west coast Hiphop. Georgia’s youthful flow is a beguiling mix social revolution and raw street wisdom. Her choruses, a haunting echo of our ancestors’ reality. And her beats, a cosmic exploration of interplanetary fOnk. Her collaborative efforts (Erykah Badu, Mos Def, Madlib) have garnered her a well deserved spotlight. She currently has a Hiphop project “SomeOthaShip” (w/Dudley Perkins), an instrumental fOnk album “Jylte”, and an instrumental jazz project “Turiya’s Smile” all set to be released in the first quarter of 2010.
Oddisee was born to a Sudanese Father and American Mother, and has been infused with the musical lifestyle since birth, weaving jazz, hiphop & soul into the melodic sampled story of his life. Since Oddisee turned his focus towards hip-hop in 1999 he has worked with the likes of Gary Shider of Parliament and Funkadelic, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Talib Kweli, J-Live, Little Brother, Flying Lotus, Freeway and many other respected recording artists. The humble Oddisee displays might disguise some of his shine, but this linguist, lyricist, producer & programmer is one of the games best. His recent physical releases include “101” & “Mental Liberation”. Oddisee is currently wrapping up “Traveling Man”, an instrumental/beat project made while touring the globe (in stores early 2010). He also continues work on his sophomore solo project, due out October 2010.
Trek Life delivers a reality check with nothing less than classic underground form. Talkin' you thru the LA Hiphop scene in reminiscent tones that enlighten like a Saturday afternoon smoke session. Trek Life was featured on Black Milk & Bishop Lamont’s “CalTroit” alongside Kardinal Offishal. You may also have seen his cameo in the film “Freestyle”. Trek’s debut album “Price I Paid” and “New Money” (Oddisee remixes of Price I Paid) are both available now. In 2010 look for Trek’s sophomore release “Everything Changed Nothing” prioduced by Oddisee. Forget the watch, let the record play, & keep it timeless.
Kenn Starr is the DMV bred emcee behind such classics as "If" featuring Talib Kweli and Foreign Exchange's "The Answer". His style has been labeled classic as it relies upon clean word play and sharp enunciation to articulate his visions of PG county's streets. Like Jay-Z without the ego, Kenn's swagger behind the mic earned him Jive Magazine's accolade as "one of the best MCs in the game". He is currently wrapping up "Two Track Mind" produced by Detroit’s Black Milk. He is also finshing work on the pre-album mixtape “DMV 2 Tha D” hosted by House Shoes.
Washington Metropolitan area MC and producer yU is stoic, quiet, serious, and mysterious all at once. Bets known for being 1/3 of the Diamond District, yU’s straightforward rhymes and soulful production resonate with humility, aggression, passion and even vulnerability. Primarily known as a MC, yU’s production skills are just as formidable as his rhyming abilities. He was featured on Oddisee’s Foot In The Door LP, has worked with Asheru, Raheem Devaughn, J. Sands, and more. His “Before Taxes” (featuring production form SlimKat78) release is currently being mastered and prepared for commercial release. yU’s newest commercial release “The Earn” is currently in production.
Before making his entrance into hip-hop, Finale worked as an automotive engineer promising to one day follow his dream of becoming a rapper. After emailing some joints back and forth with Dilla, Finale met him and Dilla introduced him to Madlib, saying that he was one of the best in the game. Finale decided to finally quit his day job and make music a full-time career. After numerous appearances on releases from Invincible, eLZhi and others, Finale's official debut LP, A Pipe Dream And A Promise, came out via Interdependent Media, cementing his place in Hiphop. He is currently working on a new project for Mello Music Group under the working title “Detroit Odyssey” which will be released in April of 2010.
For Sareem Poems, love is the revolution. This Long Beach, California emcee combines complex metaphors, catchy hooks and heavy bass tone vocals. Poems has enlisted Theory Hazit to man the boards on his newest project, with guest production by D.C. super-producer Oddisee. The new album, “Black & Read All Over”, lets the raw vocals of Sareem Poems’ gospel mix with the haunting voice of Georgia Anne Muldrow, up-beat rhymes of Pigeon John & Akil of J-5, along with a host of other prominent guests including Ragen Fykes.

Hello we are The Regiment, a hip hop music group from Detroit. After a conversation we had with a good friend of ours Apollo Brown the name of Mello Music Group was brought up as an option for reliable and efficient indie labels. We have been apart of the Rawkus 50 with artists such as Finale, Hassaan Mackey, and L.E.G.A.C.Y. We also released an album with Soulspazm "A New Beginning" which earned us an Indie Spotlight nod on itunes. We are in the process of finishing up our second album “Subliminal Thoughts” including features from Finale, Kam Moye, Kev Brown, Majestic Legend and Substantial from QN5 music. We would be honored to discuss any possibilities for work with your label. If you would like to hear any work that we already have out you can email us or check out our MySpace page www.myspace.com/theregiment100. or theregiment100@gmail.com
