Melosa formed as an acoustic four piece in 2005, and over the last three years have
developed into a ten-headed, funk-fuelled, ska machine.
2007 saw melosas sound evolve ino a much fatter, tighter groove and they rocked crowds at the Fordstock and Aeon festivals along with loads of other great gigs around the southwest with an ever growing following and ever more danceable stage show!
Autumn '07 saw them back in the studio recording what was to be their 3rd e.p 'Everyone Needs Love'....produced in the melosa studio 'the beatcave' it showcases their evolution into a seriously rocking outfit!
2008 was an awesome year for Melosa and saw them not only rocking audiences at the Beautiful Days, BeachBreak, Aeon & Chagstock Festivals but also supporting the legendary Toots & the Maytals on the southwest leg of their tour aswell as supporting Sly & Robbie, Ska Cubano, Jazz Jamaica, Baka Beyond and countless other wicked gigs!
They are currently preparing to go into the studio to record with the full ten piece line up and getting ready for another summer of festivals!
"Melosa would get any festival crowd dancing" egigs.co.uk
"The fact that the audience had unwound considerably by the time Jazz Jamaica took to the stage was also due to a superb support effort from Melosa, an Exeter-based reggae band who surpassed all expectations." thisisexeter.co.uk
"New this year is the Festival After Dark, on the Friday, which is all about fun, entertainment and indulgence in the regal surrounds of the Exeter Castle Courtyard. Live music from the bands Melosa and Yes Sir Boss will set the perfect mood to enjoy the South West's finest ales and beers." thisisexeter.co.uk
"I like that last one that goes bam bam bambam!" Toots Hibbert
