Mercury Effect is the solo sound based project of Thomas Faulds. One of the most active IDM artists in Chicago, The project was
started in 2003 and explores the world of microsound, glitch, Jungle, beat
manipulation and sound textures. All sounds are created from scratch, either sampled from the envirement or synthezised inside a computer. Sounds are deconstructed and built up using an immense variety of techniques and equipment. The intricate drum programming comes from hours of intense editing to create a dense tapestry of glitchy, brain tickling rhythms. Atmospheres are created through a dub-like process of improvising live with a mixing board and an effects unit. With this combination, a dynamic, alien, yet organic soundspace is acheived. In short, Mercury Effect is a revolution in sound. This is the soundtrack to a confrontation between innerspace and outerspace. With this music, a paradigm shift is here. Music version 2.0.
Mercury effect has releases on international labels such
as Xynthetic, Sixteensteps.com, and DirtyDemos.
Thomas is also one half of electronica duos Silences Sumire, Wosko/Faulds, and Venus Light. ALbums available for download:

"This month we have a treat for you. Q u o n e returns with 9 tracks of pure freshness. State of Flux [mp3.068] drops, twists, flips & hits from all directions creating a world drenched in technical urban system decay. Pump this loud and get lost. Totally Awesome."

I love listening to these type of dark ambient sounds whilst hammering a car around Manchester at 4am. I will be sure to add some of your tunes to my collection for this purpose. Thanx for the add, TBP/Manhattonchester x
