About me: hey my name's michael and i am a native new yorker. i worked in the music business for 23 years as a record executive working in the A&R dept signing new artists to both elektra and geffen records. i signed metallica white zombie PiL nina simone to name a few. i finally got tired of all the BS and quit working at record companies in 2003. having said that I still A&R music projects independently.
so here's the update:
just before her true colors tour I A&R'd cyndi lauper's cd "bring ya to the brink".
i also run a small label called "outsider music" with richard morel.
outsider is currently releasing the morel cd called "the death of the paper boy". it's one of the coolest cd's i've heard in a long time. it reminds me of bowie and the pet shop boys but richard has his own sad yet brilliant take on life, love and loss. it's a double cd. the second being a remix cd that's really haunting and beautiful. you may know richard remixes under the name "pink noise".
outsider also released the colton ford cd "tug of war" produced by the fabulous quentin harris. there are also remixes available at itunes of the singles. the cd has gotten incredible international press thanks to andy reynolds of penetration inc.
check out colton on his myspace page www.myspace.com/coltonfordmusic
i released a monograph of my work out called rough gods which is numbered and signed and almost sold out of the 2,000 printed. i am currently working on a large format hardcover book that i want to release in the second quarter of 2009.
you can check out some of my work at www.roughgods.com.
i am currently managing a great new up and coming actor timothy corscadden. timothy is charming, witty, compelling, articulate, real and soulful. he's a wonderful actor that i have great faith will make a mark with his career. check out timothy's myspace page www.myspace.com/timothyactor. also youtube timothy corscadden and check out a screen test and a clip from a recent film he was in called "circus".
the main picture that i finally put up here on my page was taken by my dear friend the great photographer carol friedman and it was taken during the session for the cd
a single woman . its my all time favorite picture of me and nina. i simply adored her and was so glad to be friends with her from 1990 til she died in 2003...what a whirlwind that was and am all the better man for it.
do yourself a favor and buy a nina simone cd today it will change your musical thinking. try "live at town hall" and "emergency ward" and "here comes the sun" for starters. :-) they reign supreme.
Who I'd like to meet: looking for men (like that's a shocker ;-)
for my next gallery shows and book that i am currently working on for 2009 release.
the body types are teen bodybuilders/ built football player dad types/ mature bodybuilders and all of the above with tattoos/scars as well.
hit me up if u fit the bill.
