In brief, I worked out what 'hippie' meant sometime in my early teens and never looked back. Now I know what 'old hippie' means and I'm just about getting used to it. ...Went to the Stonehenge free festival at an impressionable age, kept going back, helped set up Club Dog, went to loads more free festivals back when they were still 'free' then co-ran Megadog (www.megadog.co.uk) for more years than I can remember and finally set up Planet Dog Records (www.planetdogrecords.com). DJ'd for more years than I can remember, playing everything from bangin' hard trance to house, drum n' bass and all manner of chillout tunes (not in the same set though!). Still dabble. The full story will come as soon as I can edit it down from 1000005 words!
In the meantime, talking of writing, I've co-written an album with my old mate Steve Rowlands from Full Moon Scientist, the first recording project I've been involved in for a little while. DOGS IN SPACE brought another 3 day non-stop mix of downtempo psychedelic cabaret to SOLFEST again this year. We had some of our best performances to date from the likes of: CELTARABIA, MAGHRIBIBEAT, LINOS MAGAYA AND ZIMBAREMABWE MBIRA VIBES, TREZFEZ, REBECCA JOY SHARP AND SOFIE ROBERTS, TETCHI, 2.2 KILLAVOLT CABLES, ASTRODRUID, MARK ALLEN and THE EGYPTIA DANCE TROUPE plus a host of talented and eclectic DJs including the truly fantastic JOHN TREE plus a number of totally mindblowing VJ sets from THE SUPERSTAR VJs. The tent was packed all weekend, pretty much regardless of the time of day and we're already starting to make plans for next year's show. Dogs in Space is the closest thing to the old MEGADOG show that you'll find anywhere...just a more downtempo version of it. But if you're looking for that old doggy vibe, you won't be disappointed by Dogs in Space.....Do you need any further encouragement to book your Solfest 2010 ticket??
