.. ..Thanks for visiting my page... ..For the last few years, I've been co-hosting the DOGS IN SPACE chillout tent at SOLFEST in Cumbria and we were there again in 2010 over the weekend of August 27th-29th. .. ..If you haven't come across Solfest before, you've been missing out on the absolute BEST festival in the North of England!! You can get a feel for this off the wall, friendly and wonderfully lighthearted event by having a look at ..http://www.solwayfestival.co.uk.... ..For people missing that MEGADOG vibe, Dogs in Space takes it's cue from Megadog's long-running eclectic predecessor CLUB DOG which ran weekly in London between 1985 and 1993 featuring all manner of contemporary music and live performance. Dogs in Space is the closest thing to the old Club Dog/Megadog show that you'll find anywhere...just a more downtempo version of it. ..We run non-stop all day and night over the 3 days in a beautifully decorated, carpeted marquee with full DJ and VJ support, easy chairs, sofas and the best cafe onsite. The photographs on my ..'pics'.. page give an idea of the kind of vibe that we create over the 3 days. ..Over the weekend we programme a varied live music lineup which in 2010 included: EAT STATIC performing a special chillout set, a rare live set by guitar virtuoso NIGEL MAZLYN JONES, accompanied by Guy Evans (ex-Van Der Graaf Generator) and Jim Nield (..www.nigelmazlynjones.com....), KAYA PROJECT who have released some of the best Eastern/Electronic albums of recent years on Interchill Records (..www.kayaproject.com..), Zimbabwean mbira player Linos Magaya's African-styled combo ZIMBAWEMABWE (..www.zimbaremabwe.org..), London-based electronica combo ECHASKECH (..www.echaskech.co.uk..), Cumbrian breakbeat outfit DIGITALIS (..www.myspace.com/digitalis76..), live ska/jazz from Manchester's DUBJAZZ SOUNDSYSTEM, beautifully crafted downtempo electronica from NEEB (..www.myspace.com/neebnortheast..), haunting vocal and acoustic-based combo THE WOVEN PROJECT (..www.myspace.com/thewovenproject..), ambient dub sounds from DUB TEK (..www.dubtekmusic.com..) and fantastic contemporary jazz from up-coming Manchester-based combo MARLEY CHINGUS (..www.myspace.com/marleychingus..)... ..We also featured screenings of short films by a range of young producers alongside specially prepared live mixes by some of the North of England's best VJ's working under the collective title of THE SUPERSTAR VJ'S and London-based visual artist Alice White painted a specially commissioned 9-part artwork on canvas almost continuously for the whole weekend!!. .. ......and we had a 3 day non-stop party in the process!!.. ..We hope to be back there in the summer of 2011 but for now, here's a hand-held round up of the show so far... .. .... .. .. .. .. .. ..  .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. ..As for me... .. ..It was like this:.. ..In brief, I worked out what ..'hippie'.. meant sometime in my early teens and never looked back. Club Dog,.. went to loads more free festivals back when they were still 'free' then co-ran ..Megadog.. (..www.megadog.co.uk..) for more years than I can remember and finally set up Planet Dog Records (..www.planetdogrecords.com..). Better still, these 2 videos give a good idea of what you've been missing. Maybe see you there next year?

As for me...

It was like this:

In brief, I worked out what 'hippie' meant sometime in my early teens and never looked back. Now I know what 'old hippie' means and I'm just about getting used to it. ...Went to the Stonehenge free festival at an impressionable age, kept going back, helped set up Club Dog, went to loads more free festivals back when they were still 'free' then co-ran Megadog (www.megadog.co.uk) for more years than I can remember and finally set up Planet Dog Records (www.planetdogrecords.com). Check back in a while and I might just have managed to write something a little deeper/more cosmic /more informative but for now, thanks for having a look at this page and remember...

Live each day as if it were your last one on earth and one day...you'll be right!

(Dr Murray Banks)

Or if you prefer...

It's never too late to have a happy childhood!
