Mick can best be described (if you have to go there) as a folk rock singer/songwriter. He’s an experienced performer, having toured extensively in Ireland (his homeland), parts of the U.S., Israel and assorted other places of interest. Currently, he continues to perform in and about Ireland before sold-out crowds.
Mick writes all of his own music and lyrics. His original concept album, “Evening Train”, boasts eleven tracks telling the story of a week in the lives of two brothers, and it has been reviewed as containing “astute and sophisticated lyrics” and “strong, imaginative melodies”.
Mick is the first Irish musician to win awards in the prestigious U.S. International Songwriting Competition – “The Tender” won First Prize in the “Lyrics Only” category; “In the Gutter” took First Place in the “Folk/Singer-Songwriter” category (Judges included Tom Waits, Loretta Lynn, Sonny Rollins, John Scofield, Macy Gray and others).
Okay, so that’s a little history on Mick Flannery. As to the future, Mick has just completed his first CD for EMI Ireland, "White Lies", wihch is now available for sale throughout Ireland. As to the personal side of Mick, well, we’re still not gonna’ tell you what he likes to eat and drink, his favorite color, or things like that. We’ll keep it all a secret (just for now). But we will say this – he’s very talented, very nice and very cute. :o
“Astute and sophisticated lyrics, strong imaginative melodies, consummate musicianship on both piano and guitar, and a voice that somehow manages to sound long experienced in the ways of the world.”
