MidiMidis' Biography the future:
'MIDIMIDIS are two brothers-in-law who spend an obsessive amount of time in various bedrooms experimenting with retro MIDI and 8bit sounds from the likes of their AMSTRAD CPC 464 and ZX SPECTRUM. They are the only band who compose all of their songs using 8bit and MIDI whilst adding late 70's New-York style guitars and crooning vocals.
Whether pondering over forgotten thoughts, the ubiquitous subject of relationship breakdowns or pining after a bottle of wine, lead singer Marcus manages to somehow circumvent the bile bitterness that many a songwriter would fall for. He treats these and other dark subjects with a bohemian carelessness and humorous irreverence only to the back drop of feedback laced angular guitars, electro bass and MIDI bleeps.
MIDIMIDIS' debut demo: ‘note-to-self’ was self-released worldwide on iTunes last year with physical hand-made copies available but limited to just 200 now sold out copies. Having gained airplay on XFM by JON KENNEDY and EDDY TEMPLE-MORRIS, on BBC RADIO 1 by HUW STEPHENS, and BBC RADIO 6 MUSIC by TOM ROBINSON, the lads became the first band ever to be featured in a Video-game magazine, namely PSW (PlayStation World).
The two brothers are currently ready to release their debut EP entitled 'MAYUKO'. The 5-track EP features two tracks produced by TOM BELLAMY (LOSERS/ ex-THE COOPER TEMPLE CLAUSE) and two tracks produced by MR FOGG, as well as the now infamous MySpace remix of 'nemesis' by TOM BELLAMY which has already resulted in a LOSERS VIP remix and the band being hotly tipped as the ones to watch in 2009 by XFM's EDDY TEMPLE-MORRIS.
Both TOM BELLAMY and MR FOGG have cleverly grasped the MIDIMIDIS unique sound which can best be described as The Strokes bumping into Sonic Youth on your old SNES. The innovative sounds contained within the tracks on MAYUKO have lead to EDDY TEMPLE-MORRIS making both ‘nothing means anything’ and ‘nemesis’ tracks of the week on XFM’s THE REMIX show. MIDIMIDIS are playing TINGESFEST 2009 with LOSERS for XFM in April. MAYUKO is out now only through MySpace. The group will be playing SECRET GARDEN PARTY 2009 as well as performing with LOSERS at GLADE FESTIVAL (Main-Stage) and MATTER (O2).

A clip from one of MidiMidis' favourite films of all time:
'Kingdom of the Spiders'
'What stops MidiMidis from becoming yet another 8-bit cliché is their attention to song structure (i.e. they actually have structures and haven’t got so wrapped up in the novelty of writing music on a Game Boy that they forgot people might want to listen to it at some point,) and the nice DFA 1979 style live execution. If you once owned a NES and have records by Test Icicles and The Strokes (circa Is this it,) then you should make the effort to catch these tuneful two asap' -XyntheX DJ
