!!!!!!Mighty Mystic Bio (2009)!!!!!!
MIGHTY MYSTIC BIO:
Since the Reign of the late great Bob Marley, Reggae music has crossed the seven seas and touched the four corners of the world. It has inspired millions while giving birth to a new and exciting way of modern musical life. It is this refreshing sound that Reggae sensation Mighty Mystic has captured in a most remarkable way. Mighty Mystic was born Kevin Mark Holness in 1980, to Morris and Sonia Holness in the Country side of St Elizabeth, Jamaica. As a boy Mystic showed great interest in his island’s music. You could often hear him singing the popular tunes of those days while working on his father’s farm.
Mystic began experimenting with the local urban and Hip Hop Scene of the early 90's, and started to develop a buzz. After several years and several small releases on the local scene, Mystic began to receive some national attention when his "Put up unu Hand" and "Friends" remix's were featured on popular Dance/Club Compilation Album "Dancehall Devastation" by X-Mix.
In 2001 Mystic linked up with Jewels, Inc. and recorded “Roll with Me” and a music video which landed on over 300 radio & video stations at the time. Mystic spent the next year developing his craft and methodically planning out his career, all while on the road touring. Mystic returned with the pulse pounding roots track titled “Black People Anthem” along with a music video, which was Mystic’s adaptation of the various struggles the black nation has been through. “Black People Anthem” received great reviews and high accolades from both the press and the DJ’s.
Mystic spent the rest of 2004 recording for Willie Daniels, then A&R of VP Records, and was featured on the ever popular “All Out” Riddim Driven series and the “Check it Back” Riddim Driven Series. Mystic’s achievements that year were crystallized when Jamaica news magazine, The X-News dubbed him “The Simmering Volcano who is about to explode.” Mighty Mystic joined forces with Boston’s own Split2nd Entertainment to begin the early stages of Mystic’s debut album “Wake up the World”. This venture was the brain child of Producer Mike Cip, who with Mystic created some of Mighty Mystic biggest and most popular songs.
Over the next three years Mighty Mystic and Split2nd Entertainment has released several classic tracks such as “Treat Her Right”, “Riding on the Clouds”, “Better Times” ft Stephen Thunder, “Fire Town”, “Revolution” and the latest “Here I Am” ft Shaggy and Lelie, all of which sat on hundreds of charts and playlists, thousands of radio and video stations yielding several thousand spins, featured on numerous compilations and even featured on few smaller scale movies and documentaries. The demand for Mystic was so great that Split2nd Entertainment had to release not one but two “Wake up the World” mixtape’s which combined sold over 15,000 units. The advancements in Mystic’s career earned him the spot on Clear Channel’s Summer Jam 2006 which he performed alongside Mary J Blige and Sean Paul to name a few. To complete 2006, Mighty Mystic won the prestigious Joe Higgs “Cool Operator” Rising Star Award. Joe Higgs was influential in launching the career of the late great Bob Marley.
In 2007, Mystic was given the opportunity to perform in his home land of Jamaica on the “Unite the People” Marathon Concert which was a who’s who of reggae artist event. Later that year, Mystic ‘s single “Fire Town” hit the radio waves and solidified him as a bonified recording artist. In February of 2008 Mystic’s recorded the song “Revolution” which he dedicated to the memory of his idol, Bob Marley. The song quickly climbed the charts and stuck--earning Mighty Mystic numerous accolades. Mystic followed the song Revolution with the hit “Here I Am” which featured international superstar Shaggy and Lelie. “Here I Am” has gone on to be the biggest release of Mighty Mystic's career with its video being played on MTV Jamz and several other video outlets.
Recently Mystic has released the singles "Hero", "Free", and "Slipped Away" which are being played on radio stations both nationally and internationally. He has since been doing shows with the likes of Barrington Levy, Beenie Man, Movado, Sean Paul, Shaggy, The Wailers, The Original Wailers, Luciano, Sizzla, Buju Banton, Capleton, Collie Buddz, hip hop stars P. Diddy, Fat Joe, and much more. More recently he has even become a favorite on the Festival scene. Mystic says “his rising popularity is due partly to the exciting performance which he and his band 'Strings of Thunder' deliver at their concerts”. This was evident at his Sold-Out performance at Boston’s Legendary Live Concert Venue, the Paradise Rock Club, and many other venues he has recently played across the country.
Mighty Mystic is currently working on his debut album which should be out by the end of 2009. Mighty Mystic says the album can be summed up with one word, UNIVERSAL! “My aim on this album is to draw from all facets and different walks of life to create something timeless”. “Music is life and life is very broad, so I have to design something that can suit all people”.
