I am CEO and co-creator of Seattle-based online news media company, Newsvine.com. Before co-founding Newsvine in 2005, I worked for several years as Art Director and Manager of Media Product Development at both ESPN.com and the Walt Disney Internet Group.
I have a business degree from the University of Washington and also studied creative advertising at Oxford.
I'm a designer, I'm unmarried, I like Oscar Wilde, I have a cat, and I'm not gay. Find me another one of those.
NOTE: Although I'm generally a very helpful person (see above paragraph), please don't e-mail me with questions about your MySpace layouts. I just get way too many to answer. Thanks.
Who I'd like to meet: Ehmmm... this MySpace page is mostly for experimentation but whatever.
Hi, have you seen your profile outfit lately? I'm sitting behind Firefox, latest edition, and all texts are either floating around or overlapping each other. Have you done something extraordinary or is it myspace (probably)?
Why would I try to make anything easier for stalkers? What have they done for me lately? I might actually think about it if I had a cute flowery middle name like Buttercup or Cherryblossom, but I don't. You'll just have to memorize 65893400, or uh, just go through your friend page?
So I bit the bullet and picked up the pro version of Expression Engine (the $250 behemoth) for some of our upcoming projects. It's got a bit of a learning curve, but overall very promising indeed. I can see why Greg likes it. The extra $99 for the forum module is pretty cheapskate though.
You can't really call this a MySpace page Mike! You don't have an AOLesque sparkly pastel background with clashing neon text! Even worse, nobody is allowed to adorn your comment box with gigantic HTML teddy bears that take a lifetime to load. Tsk, tsk. What are you thinking?
Sorry to post 2 random comments so close together, but I bought a CASIO Exilim EX-Z50 after reading your "7.2 Megapixels in your pocket" post. I just noticed that NewEgg is having a one day sale on the EX-Z750 for $255.99. That's quite a deal so I thought I'd pass it on. I'm still very happy with mine, so thanks for the recommendation.
Thanks for the add Mike, and for the great code. I still don't know what half of it means and I'd like to tweak things a little, but I'm pleased with my efforts so far. Your page looks brilliant, for once my eyes aren't bleeding looking at a myspace page.
Thanks for your efforts to make MySpace more aesthetically appealing and for your ever humorous blog... I've been hooked since this post made me laugh.
mIkE...I can't believe you're on here. ; ) Thanks for your help today with my camera. I am so excited to use it. I love it already. Have a great weekend.
