The new album from Austin, TX based Mike Maven, titled Rules In Love, features Maven's most inspiring and mature songwriting to date. Produced by Michael Ingber and accompanied by some of the brightest and most unique young musicians from all over the country and the world, Rules In Love has a brand new, genre bending pop sound that retains Mike Maven's soulful core, rock edge, and R&B flavor. The title track, cowritten with Iakov Kremenskiy who has performed and studied with the likes of Marcus Miller and David "Fuze" Fiuczynski, exemplifies the meaningfulness and message behind the record, a coming of age story of learning to love oneself. The album also features collaborations with Jimi Anderson, recent winner of the 2007 Billboard World Songwriting Contest, as well as 6th Sense, one of Rawkus Records' most talented young emcees.
"This is one of the first groups whose progress I've been excited to see in twenty years. These guys are ready for the prime time."

-Paul Rizzo, Owner, The Bitter End NYC
My name is Mike Maven, and I am a singer, songwriter, thinker, and bandleader of my amazing performance ensemble, Mike Maven and the Goodlife. Since I was a child, I was influenced by my parents' record collection. They valued closely the classics which ranged from Tom Petty to Stevie Wonder. In grade school, I idolized Michael Jackson, a favorite of my mother's from the days of Off The Wall. I grew up surrounded by music of all styles and genres, and I came to appreciate this music both as a fan and an academic. In college, my view of the world was shaped by my love of the sounds, styles, and stories of Hip Hop over the decades. As time passed, I found my place in writing music that reflected American musical traditions, and have come to describe our music as Popular Soul-Rock / R&B.
After making a splash this year during the SXSW music conference, Mike Maven and the Goodlife have officially settled in Austin, TX and have a developing fan base locally, as well as back with their roots in Boston, New York, and New England. This April will see the release of the new album, Rules In Love, which marks a turning point in the evolution of Mike Maven's music, reflecting his most mature songwriting to date, and a new level of sound from young producer, Michael Ingber, whose ability to combine Pop with the raw and real value of self-produced grassroots music makes him one of the most cutting-edge futurists of the new music model. Michael Ingber has recently acquired an endorsement with Po Boy Drums as a member of the Goodlife.
In the last year, Mike Maven and the Goodlife have opened for Hanson, Stephen Kellogg, The Wood Brothers, Grace Potter and the Nocturnals, Zox, and the legendary Sugar Hill Gang. The debut album Welcome to the Goodlife Vol. 1 has sold over 900 physical copies nationally and in Japan, and has sold over 200 more copies digitally, as well as being widely downloaded. Recent connections with E! Television, Armed Forces Entertainment, and other agents and large concert promoters will make this an exciting year for the band.
What is the Goodlife? The Goodlife is more than just a band. The Goodlife is a collective. We are the family of musicians, fans, producers, and businesspeople who make my music possible.
