Bigwig - chronically under-rated punk band from new jersey.... Black Flag - simply a role model for how to be a band. always doing something new. Consumed - massive influence on Phinius Gage and my solo stuff. Darkest Hour - my favourite current hardcore/metal crossover. Descendents - one of the few old punk bands who've got better as they've got older... Elliott Smith - sadly dead, but the most amazing solo artist. go listen if you don't know his stuff. Good Riddance - Fat Wreck chords legendary punks - vegans too. Greg Graffin - the Bad Religion frontman does solo stuff too, and its amazing. Ignite - my favourite hardcore band. simple as. a massive influence on Phinius Gage. Johnny Cash - influenced me in a massive way, as he has for millions of people. King Blues - the best band in the UK right now. Lost Patrol - Dennis from Refused's solo stuff. Now a collective under a new name but still great. No Fun At All - probably my favourite pop-punk band ever. have a listen... Pennywise - the best punk band ever. Propagandhi - i love them so much i covered one of their songs. too cool for an official page but loads of tribute pages... Raised Fist - amazing hardcore from Sweden.
My name is Mike. I play solo, acoustic punk rock, folk stuff. I have been doing solo shows since October 2007. Before that I spent a few years touring like hell with Phinius Gage all over the UK and Europe.
In the brief time I've been doing this solo thing, I've been lucky enough to tour with Kelly Kemp (No Comply), Kevin Seconds (7 Seconds), Kepi (Groovie Ghoulies), Mike Park, Sundowner, Sam Russo and others. I've shared the stage with everyone from indie bands to hardcore bands. That's how it should be.
I released an EP to coincide with my first shows in October 2007 called 'the Massacre Songs EP', which came out on Fond of Life Records of Germany. My second CD is out on November 24th 2008 - it's a 10 track split CD with Flav Giorgini, guitarist from one of my childhood favourite pop-punk bands, Squirtgun. Lovely stuff.
This is the only video I've done so far. It was for Phinius Gage, for the song we did called 'Broken Wings'. It got a surprizing amount of Sky TV plays considering it cost £50 to make. I always thought I'm not in it enough mind....
