Most college boys spend their free time playing beer pong and hooking up with hot chicks. But Southfield, Michigan-bred producer/singer/songwriter Mike Posner, 21, doesn’t let the hedonistic side of life at Duke University (where he’s currently a senior, majoring in both sociology and business) derail him from his musical dreams. At 13, he started making beats and networking with other musicians via Internet message boards. In January 2009, Posner holed up in his dorm room and wrote, produced and recorded every track on his debut mixtape, A Matter of Time. The mixtape hit the Web in March, sparking a months-long label bidding war, where J Records emerged the victor. Even with all his musical accomplishments, Mike hasn’t abandoned his studies just yet, as evidenced by his hustle during finals week this semester. “Thursday and Friday I performed in Detroit. Saturday I performed at the University of Dayton. I had three finals on Tuesday, a show at Duke Wednesday, did a song with Wale and 9th Wonder Thursday, and Friday I had a meeting with Jay-Z.” While Mike works toward graduation, he is recording a new mixtape slated for a fall release, his debut album, as well as touring every weekend.

What up doe Mike Posner, I want to introduce myself personally my name is Fadie and that's pronounced Fa-Dee and Tha
Egyptian Don is my artist/musician name. I am the leader of the
revolution of positive evolution. It's a time for positive change and I
play a huge part in all of this with my businesses and my music,
unfortunately though my businesses have drained me to a state of being
just over broke. I've been doing music since January 2009 when I first
was asked to freestyle by a friend when we were just messing around and
it came natural to me. Since then I have been compared numerous time to
2Pac, Eminem, & Nas who are the three top artists ever in the game.
The music DEMO's recorded unfortunately have been recorded with my
ghetto setup that I have which is a $59 microphone and a free recording
program called Audacity. I'm in the "getting discovered" mode right now
so I am making a mixtape to release January 1, 2010 called Tha Greatest
Mind Of Me, J.O.B.(Just Over Broke) Edition which will have the 9 DEMO
tracks on my page plus 4+ more up for mp3 download. I was going to make
the mixtape free, but then I came up with an even better idea since I
am all about bringing positive change to the world the mixtape will be
up for download with a minimum purchase of $1 and a maximum purchase at
whatever you would like because 100% of proceeds will be going to one
of the ten charities of the people's choice. I figured it would be
nice to help children, poverty, & like breast cancer with the
release of the mixtape spreading around the world quickly for the best
cause! So I am writing you hoping that you or someone close to you will read this and decide to release some music on the website with me all towards a great cause! Please let me know when you want to be a part of this amazing world changing process because I would love to have you be a part of it all Mike Posner!
