SO, WHO IS THIS MIKE VITALE GUY? WELL...
Being a child of the 80's, my imagination was stirred through the availability of "Choose Your Own Adventure Novels." With this in mind, I offer two different choices in which to get to know me. One is informative and the other, more a reflection of my personality and less about content:
In an effort to broaden the sonic landscape surrounding his poignant and heartfelt songwriting and powerful voice, Mike Vitale hit the studio in between a rigorous touring schedule in late 2008 to begin work on his second studio album. The proud Fullerton, CA native has been working diligently on this self-produced effort, fueled by the positive energy and praise being expressed by college and university audiences along the West Coast as the material was being created and refined on the road.
Where as Vitale’s last album Idiosyncrasies was an effort to capture a living, breathing moment, just an acoustic guitar and his voice, Mike has found himself charting new territory on a personal level with his latest independent studio album scheduled for release in late 2009. Having assumed the role of producer, engineer, and performer, incredibly, Mike has found himself not only writing all the songs and arranging all of the instruments on the new album, but also performing most of them as well. “While I’ve never really considered myself a multi-instrumentalist, this new album has been a very liberating and cathartic experience in terms of pushing the boundaries of what I thought I was capable of doing as a musician and songwriter.” Trading in his acoustic street credentials for an electric guitar driven album, Mike is continuing to test the limits of his personal capabilities as an artist.
Vitale launched his career with his first independent release, 2007’s Idiosyncrasies. Mike made a solid effort with Idiosyncrasies to capture a raw, intimate, acoustic rendition of 10 songs. Mike’s rock solid work ethic and raved-about live rep has lent to a steadily increasing grass roots following that has helped sell in excess of 5,000 digital and physical copies of his album through constant shows along the West Coast as well as word-of-mouth sales on iTunes.
Two songs off of the as-of-yet untitled new album “We’ve Been Down This Road Before” and “Joy” have already garnered a favorable amount of interest from various college radio stations, local television shows, licensing companies, and inevitably helped him land a major film festival performance at Method Fest in Calabasas, CA. Mike recently signed a contract with a major licensing and management company based out of Los Angeles and is currently having his music shopped for use by such notable clients as ABC. “Joy” was nominated for a 2009 Orange County Music Award.
“With all of the attention that I’ve received from an album that isn’t yet complete, I am anxious to see what is around the corner once this record is done and I can continue to tour in support of something that I believe in and want the world to experience. I’m very proud of the direction this album is leading me in and I can’t wait for everyone to hear it.”
First off, you must have a sense of humor and be at least this tall to read this:
Hi, my name is Mike. I came up with this completely original idea about three or four years ago over a bowl of Lucky Charms and 1% milk; what if I wrote words regarding everyday life that people could relate to, devise a melody for said words, and then sing this melodious concoction over a set of predetermined blocks of music… sound familiar… I hope not, because it’s my idea (you just keep that in mind bucko).
You know, I apologize for that outburst, sometimes my mouth gets away from me. What I really meant to say is thank you for stopping by my myspace page. You could be doing any number of things (like cleaning your toilet bowl, eating girl scout cookies, watching C.S.I Miami, painting your toe nails, cross dressing), but no, you are listening to my music you cute little thing you.
I figure if you haven’t already abandoned your valiant effort to read this “Bio,” well then the very least I can do is tell you a little more about myself; after all, otherwise, I might be wasting your time. Here is a short list of interesting “secrets” regarding Mike Vitale:
1.) He enjoys talking about himself in third-person occasionally.
2.) He’s not the kind person who doesn’t use double negatives in a sentence just because he can.
3.) He lies when he says that he enjoys talking in third-person (because every other musician does when they talk about themselves in a bio).
4.) He wears women’s underwear. Shhh, that’s our little secret.
5.) He uses the word “occasionally” egregiously and really means that he does it all the time, but for some reason, saying “occasionally” makes him feel better about himself.
6.) He doesn’t know what the word “egregiously” means.
7.) Some people think that Mike is in denial about being a compulsive liar; he doesn’t agree.
Now, lets recap on what we’ve learned about Mike Vitale… not much. But we have learned quite a bit about your patience.

Oh God yes! "Limelight" totally opened the door for me towards paying attention to Rush. I never realized that I'm actually missing on something very sublime! I actually began checking them out early this year. So far, I've listened to about 20 songs from them. I really hope to purchase an album or three they've released so far. Moving Pictures is definitely on the top of my list, Rush-wise.
Thank you so much for sharing your perspective regarding Rush.
Come The Camp 2937 Bristol street, Costa Mesa tomorrow... it's the opening event for Seed Peoples Market and we're opening the doors to friends and family for a sneak preview of eVocal's new home. We have some great art on exhibit and special guests coming through to play a few jams in the afternoon...
we'll be there all weekend 11am till 7pm - join us, it's back on !
Hi ya! Matt and I would like to come visit you before you make the trip to Fresno--but judging by your calendar you're pretty busy!! If we don't catch you before then, I'd love to invite you to my place for dinner and you KNOW you're welcome to stay :)
You know if I lived closer... I'd be coming out this weekend to hear your latest set! But alas... only well wishes are sent! Here's one of my latest creations (posted in my blog) called But Imagine: The Real Me. It not only applies to the chickpeas out there but the roosterpeas as well (with the exception of the line "breasts and curved hips"... and that even has an exception to it (transvestites!))
Dude, Mike, what's up? I've been doing well. It's been a while since I've been to a show and I see that you have a new residency in downtown Fullerton. I'll be sure to catch a show either this week or next week. Hope all is well.
