"She's better than George Harrison!" NIGEL KENNEDY
"Definitely the best 'album demo' i have heard all year! It is an original product, finally someone that is not trying to copy an existing artist! Stylistically she touches various styles.. elegently and naturally." GAUDI
"Deeply influenced by Indian music, she plays a brand of fusion that is deeply inspiring." DIPANWITA DAS, KOLKATA MIRROR
"It is incredible to see a Western woman play sarangi, considered the hardest of Indian instruments. It was used to accompany courtesans and consequently there are very few players left in India and none at all in Pakistan. And Milli plays so sensitively and charged with emotion- she truly stirs the soul. She takes you into an intimate world with her beloved instruments that appears a true extension of herslf. It is quite a treat to watch Milli on stage"

From barefoot to stilettos, Milli travels the sounds of cultures, seamlessly weaving genres that give credit to countries across the globe. Her main project, Milli and the Moonstones, was formed out of the heat of the London music and UK festival scene in March ’08, to take out live Milli’s debut album (due for release early 2009). Influences range from the exotic to the celtic with all that grooves in between. Having been well received at gigs round the country and abroad, a full line-up of London, Paris and international gigs await with a university tour of the UK in Spring ’09 and India in Autumn '09.
Milli's love of music started early and developed through studying Western music and a variety of instruments during her school years. A year spent travelling around the world absorbing local music and culture inspired a 3-year stint at SOAS (School of Oriental and African Studies in London) furthering her knowledge of world music and its instruments.
"My passion for music has led me from London Underground busker, to singer in Congolese Soukous bands, from diza (flute) player in Chinese Silk and Bamboo ensemble, to guitarist in Zimbabwean fusion band, from sarangi player in Indian classical trio, to jammin' on sarangi with house DJs, to violinist in Western orchestras... and from the depths of my heart, leader of my own band Milli and the Moonstones."
"These sincere journeys have blessed me the chance to perform in English country fields, East London squats, chic West End nightclubs, Spanish mountain towns, Hungarian festivals, a prestigious Portuguese cultural centre, an Indian concert hall, dusty Indonesian streets and a castle in a wild Omani desert! All these experiences and passions are mixed into the melting pot from which blossoms my creativity. One of my most precious gifts is music, and one of my greatest pleasures is sharing this gift with others… "
"And so, along came the band, and together we share our passions with each other and the world. We invite you to come play with us at "You-Nite" (see flyer below), or come dance, relax and enjoy gigs around London and the UK."
The debut album is on its way, so watch this space... ;-)

Poem 2 of 230, WalkaboutsVerse (please see my blog): WALKABOUT WITH MY PEN
Once drove an old sedan, up north, From a place in Sydney to Cairns; Then to Kuranda I went forth, By train, to look without set plans.
I browsed through the trendy market, With fresh fruits of tropical kind; Walked to the creek through lush thicket - Nature’s hand giving peace of mind.
I dined in a scenic cafe; Then, outside, as I wrote for yen, Some passing Kooris called-out: “Hey, You go walkabout with your pen.”
Request or question, I don’t know - Assured voices, elderly men. That’s now several years ago, And I’ve seen the world - with my pen.
Hi. Cheers:) have a great day, if you have time please check out an interesting gig story that I just posted (first part of Bio or in the blog). Thanks
MINNEAPOLIS – The $1.92 million verdict against a Minnesota woman accused of sharing 24 songs over the Internet could ratchet up the pressure on other defendants to settle with the recording industry if the big fine can withstand an appeal. In the latest trial, a federal jury in Minneapolis ruled that she must pay $1.92 million for willful infringement of the recording industry's copyrights by posting the music on the file-sharing site Kazaa. Under federal law, the recording companies are entitled to $750 to $30,000 per infringement but the law allows the jury to raise that to as much as $150,000 per track if it finds the infringements were willful. The jury decided on $80,000 per song.
This is so messed up.. but nothing surprises me anymore.. The lady that they are trying to get almost $2 million dollars from is a single mother of 4! So my friends in honor of the recording industry I would like to give you the gift of new music.. Feel free to DOWNLOAD the songs FOR FREE on my page... don’t worry.. I won’t sue you ;) <img .."visibility:hidden;width:0px;height:0px;" border=0 width=0 height=0 src="
