"Taking over the local rock scene and soon everywhere else with incredible writing on guitars and vocals. A mix between metal and melodic that anyone who appreciates rock will be in awe." - Tony Stone, WBUZ
The Nashville metalcore band Mindset Defect has been taking the southeast by storm, sharing the stage with the likes of Straight Line Stitch, Diecast and Ekotren. Since their conception in 2005 Mindset Defect has strived to bring something different to metal fans. Their music stands apart with it's innovative use of melodic vocals, dueling guitars, progressive drumming and lyrics that expose the light at the end of the tunnel. Combined with an electrifying live show Mindset Defect shatters the dark image of the traditional metal band.
Unlike most bands Mindset Defect's musicians equally participate in all aspects. Everyone in the band has a part in writing music, lyrics and the business side of things. Each bar of music the members write are extensions of their personality and are seamlessly woven into every song. Songcrafting is something they take seriously drawing inspiration from the greats of the metal world. Their dedication to their music is matched only by their dedication to the Nashville rock scene. They are often times called the hardest working band in Nashville supporting worthwhile causes and fellow up-and-coming bands.
"Crisis Reborn" their demo CD garnered them airplay on Nashville's number one rock station WBUZ during The Local Buzz and afternoon drive time. Their single "Tragedy", regularly requested by fans, earned them a nomination for Best Hard Rock/Metal Act for the 2006 Local Buzz Rock Awards.
In 2007 they followed the success of "Tragedy" with "Paint the Sky", the first single from their EP "Device". Wanting to take the band to the next level Mindset Defect packed up their bags and headed to Harrisburg, PA to attend the Millennium Music Conference to showcase their talent. At the conference their professionalism and powerful performance solidified them as the band to know when traveling through Tennessee. They ended the year as the 9th most request band on the Local Buzz and earned two nominations Best Hard Rock/Metal Act and Best Guitarist for the 2007 Local Buzz Rock Awards.
Mindset Defect continued to build moment in 2008. Their single "Device" was discovered on Sonicbids and chosen to appear on the November/December issue of Metal Edge Magazine's compilation CD. An achievement proving that they were making waves in the metal community. As the year came to a close Mindset Defect was the 4th most requested band and ended with a expansive number of nominations for the 2009 Local Buzz Rock Awards. Of their six nominations they walked away with Best Guitarist, Best Drummer and the prestigious Band of the Year.
"Device" the current release from Mindset Defect is touted as their best effort to date. With growing support from radio, media and fans Mindset Defect is prepared to take each town in the world by storm proving that metal is still alive and breaking new ground!
"The vocals are fantastic, guitars are some of the best around town, drums and bass give it that great backbeat." - NashvilleRock.net
"There is a reason people respond to Mindset Defect. They ROCK! It's the perfect storm of melody, in-your-face metal, punk and killer guitar riffs. That uniqueness and energy comes across in the recording and translates perfectly in their live show. Absolutely mindblowing!" - Aljon Go, Gibson.com, former radio host WKDF/WBUZ
