Someone said this about Seafronts, which I thought was a nice way of describing it:
"This song could [also] be a caravan song, though not quite as giggly, and a lot more starry-eyed. Imagine: It had been a long day - we were both tired and restless from sitting about, drinking tea and watching ancient repeats of Rising Damp. Neither of us could drive so we walked to the shop, then down to the beach. You took your shoes and socks off and sighed; I zipped my coat and pulled my hood up over my head. We walked along the pier, your voice going against the wind, finding its way into my heart. I stopped at the edge of the pier, and sat down; You worried that I might fall in. I pulled my sleeves down over my hands, turned around and embraced you."
Video of Walking Along Seafronts At Night - live @ The First Highland Cow Alldayer, at The Peel in Kingston Basically we're massively hungover here (except for Kate) because we partied so hard the night before as it was my birthday. Ouch.
Video of April 2006 tour with The Fez and Tempercalm Far too much footage of me acting like an absolute tool. Lovingly shot and edited by James Tempercalm.
So this one time, the nice guys at BeatCast TV filmed one of our shows. They did a really good job, and seeing as it contains four new songs and two old ones, we figured we'd get rid of our music player and just embed the video on our profile. It's like listening to our songs with added pictures.
We also recently did a session for The Buzz On Abi showat XStream East FM, and Abi filmed one of our new tunes, called Waterfalls. She stuck it up on Youtube, so we stuck it up on our page.
Once upon a time there was a boy called del. He played in some rubbish school bands and wrote some awful songs and didn't really know what he was doing. Some years later, in about 2005, he decided he wanted to try and play some gigs in the area. So he wrote some more dubiously-named songs about love, girls and the internet and began peddling his wares locally and nationally.
After a while, some people started saying some nice (and not so nice) things about his music so that made him write some more songs. These songs were better songs but they were still dubiously-titled. Then one day he met kate and thought she was really hot and wanted to get her in the band. After getting her in the band it transpired she could sing and play guitar so they played some gigs with her singing too (but not playing guitar because del hadn't taught her the parts yet). Lots of people said things like "kate has a better voice than del and should sing more" which, aside from stating the obvious, meant that the band had got better. Obv.
Then one day del was in a car with dave and it turned out that dave could play viola as well as drums (which is what dave had been famous for previously) so del stole him to play drums and viola for mistakes.in.animation. This was a good move because the songs sounded better with drums and viola. It was also good because both dave and kate could drive (although kate didn't drink so she did most of the driving).
About a year later kate said to del, "I'm going to university in paris," and del replied, "oh no. I think I will have to replace you in the band," to which kate replied, "oh gosh. don't hate me." del could never hate kate because they had become really good friends and kate going to university in paris was an awesome awesome thing that del could never do. and replacing kate was very hard.
Then one day, del got an email from a girl called scarlett who said that a friend of a friend had said that del needed a girl who could sing (and not with a kate nash accent) for his band. scarlett said that she could sing (and not with a kate nash accent) so they went and got hammered. del didn't really care if she could sing or not, but wanted to see if they got on. they did. and then it turned out she actually COULD sing (and not with a kate nash accent).
After a while it transpired that one of the other bands dave played in (called tubelord) were getting rather a lot of gigs and dave was spending a lot more time with two boys called joe and sean. the two circumstances may or may not have been mutually exclusive. either way, del decided that because he really liked tubelord, he would find another drummer so dave could continue his efforts.
Turns out, del had another friend called dave who also played drums. dave used to be in a band with rhys (good shoes), andy (tellison) and jon wood (epideme / general all round kingston/brighton legend) so he felt left out of being comparitively non-successful in a musical fashion. Quite how he thought joining mistakes.in.animation would change this, they're not sure, but they started writing new songs together and they sound "nuff buff". A new bassist called Jarryd joined, after Andy (the one out of Tellison) played a few shows with them.
mistakes.in.animation will be recording an EP in March featuring two new songs and three old ones and then maybe they will do a lot more gigging to promote it. That sounds like a good idea doesn't it? To hear about any future plans, please sign up to the mailing list below. It'll take a second of your time. Maybe a minute if you're slow.
Hello! I hope 2009 is going well for you musically and otherwise? x A little update!
The forthcoming 4-track EP is nearing completion, and I cannot tell you how different this sound is from the demo's, not in terms of sound but having been given free reign on drums, bass and violins with expert production, it has exploded in savage tribal style :p Prepare to rock to the rhythm. This is the band sound.
Alternative singer/songwriter based in London, a blend of haunting melodies and ethereal magic, on the fast track to a fully banded, savagely tribal sounding EP, which may prove surprising to some. Falling under a spell, prepare for nostalgia in these personal insights. Currently expanding into a band. The EP is due for release early 2009.
