Known primarily as a record producer for the last 20 years, Mitchell Froom has produced over 60 albums, selling in excess of 40 million copies. He was nominated for two Grammy Awards, Record of the Year for “La Bamba” by Los Lobos and Producer of the Year for both “Kiko” by Los Lobos and “99.9°F” by Suzanne Vega. Further he was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for co-writing the James Bond movie title song “Tomorrow Never Dies” with Sheryl Crow and for an Emmy award for best T.V. Theme for “Noodletown” taken from his second solo album “Dopamine” (1998).
Froom released his first solo album “The Key of Cool” in 1984, which led to various future productions. In the period of 1984-1991 he produced three albums each with Crowded House, The Del Fuegos and Richard Thompson. He also worked with Los Lobos (“La Bamba”-single and “Kiko”), Paul McCartney, Elvis Costello (“Mighty Like a Rose” et al.) and Suzanne Vega (“99.9°F”).
In the time period from 1992-2002 Froom formed a full time partnership with engineer Tchad Blake, he continued his successful association with Los Lobos (two more albums), Elvis Costello (“Brutal Youth” et al.), Richard Thompson, Suzanne Vega. i think we are lucky to live these lives we lead. to be a part of the cultural, political and scientific conversation of our time, at and on any level; and be able to work one's way through life basically supporting oneself through their art. amazing! frustrating sometimes? yes. unfair sometimes...what isn't? we are blessed. that is why it is imperative that we speak up when we see injustice. it is our responsibility for being so blessed. - joey alkes of dj monkey
I was thinking of you. I was just in Tennessee hanging out with Pat McLaughlin and his family (our daughters are best friends). I am always so happy to hear anything you are working on. I never tire of your music. xo Michelle
