About me:

WHAT IS IMP?
The International Mixtape Project is a global community of music-oriented souls that exchange monthly compilation tapes and CD-Rs. IMP is now more than four years old and includes more than 1,200 participants from 30 countries.

HOW DOES IMP WORK?
Each member is required to send one compilation CD-R or cassette to another member every month. Assignments are generated automatically around the first day of every month from a database of active members and delivered via e-mail. With each assignment, participants have until the end of the month to send a mix to their assigned recipients. In exchange, each participant receives a mix from somewhere around the world! Each member of the IMP global community are also issued a unique username and password to log in to and create a profile on the IMP website.

HOW DO I JOIN IMP?

Hey IMPers!

Here’s a shameless plug for your Sabbath.

I'm on BBC 6 Music radio tonight - this Sunday - from 8pm. They'll be broadcasting an interview with me and playing my 1 hour mix of electro-indie and Brighton bands, either 8-9 or 9-10pm.

Not For Resale has been entered into a competition. There's 2 dj's every Sunday for 4 weeks battling for a prize of a DJ set at Summer Sundae in Leicester or Indian Summer in Glasgow, then I guess 4 in the final in July with people voting again and the top 2 winning. I think I could do a lot of damage with a set at a festival so I’m kind of wanting to win now – at least the first round any way – I’m up against someone from Cambridge. I’m not sure what would happen to the world order if Brighton lost to Cambridge in a DJing competition, but it can’t be good.

Here's the URL to the BBC 6 website so you can stream it if needs be: http://www.bbc.co.uk/6music/shows/listener_6mix/

It is a competition, so I am requesting your votes (like all those tedious indie bands). Out of pity for my terrible interview probably - I don't imagine negative mono-syllabic answers translate well on air, but I’m sure it will be funny if not simply humiliating.

You can text on 64046, or email them at 6mix@bbc.co.uk, or leave comments on their website. Maybe I’ll give a prize to the person who rips me apart the best. Or is the nicest, obviously.

You can stream it all week and vote until next Friday

O.K. Enough spam from me now.

Thanks, enjoy, happy weekends,

MxBx

Hey D, don't worry - something good will turn up, you just have to have a bit of patience with it. I can go several months before getting something that's really satisfying in every creative sense.

After a bit of a drought over the summer, someone sent me The Mix: A compilation of bands beginning with The - may not be the most imaginative, but I bet it was one that was itching at them and th tracks were all great, from The Arcade Fire to The Magnetic Fields - admittedly that's not the hugest leap, but they were all good. The cover art was really nice too in a carefully made slip case. Shame they didn't include any contact details, or I'd have let them know I was impressed.

So keep waiting, something will impress you in some way. MxBx
