Model 101 is a progressive, grooving metal band from the Netherlands. Their play consists of brutal bashing rhythmical riffs, enchanting melodies, innovating beats and samples and blood-curling screams and grunts. The band has just reached its full strength with the addition of a new vocalist and a second guitarist. The first official demo has been released in 2007 and the year 2008 brings the release of an EP entitled the Cold Approach. This record has been produced and mixed by Vincent van Haperen and was mixed by Jochem Jacobs (Textures) at his Split Second Sound studio. The record also features a guest performance by jazz pianist Mike Roelofs. The Cold Approach EP is proof that Model 101 is a full-worthy and convincing band.
History:
The band came into existence in early 2002, with the idea to form a metal band. As the years passed the music gradually intensified and diversified, while vocalists and second guitarists were repeatedly replaced. In February 2007 the band asked vocalist Remco to try out. The band had known him for many years from his death metal band Infuriate as well as from the thrash metal outfit State:Chaos, with ex-members of Desensitised and Callenish Circle. Remco’s vocals matched the music perfectly.
Jos, who also plays guitar in the mathcore act Dustsucker and the metalcore band Two Days Left, went on to become our second guitarist after Lukie left the band in Dec 2008.
Model 101 has found the sound they want to produce. Brutal, tight, rhythmic metal filled with beats and samples but still with room for melody. For fans of bands like Textures, Tool, Meshuggah, and The Amenta.
