For the solo shows, there is just me and my guitar/voice and some foot tapping.
Harmonica Buzz and I are competing in the Blues duo challenge in Detroit in March and will continue to do some shows around Michigan.
My main guitar player for duo work in Canada is Max Bent (also on my cd.....and NOW he is producing the new CD!). In Colorado it's Michael Reese, in New York it's Tim Costello.
I call my band "The Mo' Kauffey Experience", because i have a somewhat rotating cast of characters that bring their own flavor to the mix. In Canada add Peter Turpin on bass, in Colorado add John Flores or Kim Stone on bass.
Influences
Too many to list them all…….Gary Fowler, Larry Dennis, Marty Spritzer, Martin Ortega are some you never heard of, but were big in my life. Ones you probably have heard of include:Leadbelly, Lightning Hopkins, Roger Miller, J.J. Cale, Johnny Cash, Hot Tuna, John Mayall, Van Morrison, The Moody Blues, The Beatles are a few.
Sounds Like
Take a blender throw in some Hot Tuna, a little Johnny Cash, some J.J. Cale, a little Mark Knoffler, some Dylan and little John Prine and you’ll get the idea.
Come on in and sit a spell.
Here's a live radio thing Buzz and I did sept 2008, doin one of Buzz's great songs.
Here is a live solo performance of one of my newer songs "Dig It" recorded a few months ago at the London Music Club in.............London, Ontario.

My top friends are mostly musicians I feel worth the listen. I am at home in Guelph, Ontario getting ready for a wild and prosperous summer. I am putting bookings together for the fall, winter and beyond; and the progress on the new Mo' Kauffey CD continues.!
That's my story and I'm sticking to it!
Now, moving on to the mp3s on my page, there are studio cuts and live recordings from different gigs with different folks. Details are all in lyrics tab (players/dates, etc)The newest is: "Sittin' in La La" recorded this past June. "Railroad Work Song" is with a 5 piece band at the Crystola Inn, and is a very fortunate capturing of live Mo'!. I hope you enjoy! I play in the hallway between the folk and the blues blending elements of blues, jazz, country, New Orleans and rock and folk music, not something I try to do, it is just what I do. Think J.J. Cale meets…………….somebody. I write songs and I adapt others songs to my style, trying to pay homage to what moved me, yet trying to add my own flavor to the recipe. I am not the kind of player that has played with everyone, yet I have been blessed by attracting some incredible players to join my party. The new Mo’ cd is chugging along nicely with Max Bent at the producer's wheel and should be done sometime this summer, stay tuned for Mo' details on that. so if you can't come see me live then GO SEE SOMEBODY!
You can also hear tunes on my site mokauffey.com or see Mo' videos at http://www.youtube.com/mokauffey

War Child helps these children that have been affected by war. Check out the new blog – the whole story is up there. Love to have you be a part of it.
You’ll find a Blog, Tour page and a Bio page. I’ll be blogging daily from the road.
