Monkey Steak are producers Atki2 and Hanuman from Bristol and London respectively. With their ruffnek beats and rude bwoy pop Monkey Steak are
dancefloor dynamite. Mashing up global riddims and bass heavy genre
bending ruffness, they incorporate sounds from bassline to bashment,
grime to dubstep to 2step garage to baille funk to jungle and back again!
They entered the scene anonymously back in 2005, dropping the first 12" in Werk Disc's infamous Grim Dubs series, a tongue-in-cheek and irreverent take on the then emerging dubstep scene. Since then, they have released tracks on Werk, and Bristol's Punch Drunk and Death$ucker Records. Forthcoming releases are due for release later in the year on Sleazetone and their own imprint Steak House.
Atki2 and Hanuman also work under their solo monikors; Atki2 having written EPs forWerk and Shadetek records, and Hanuman unleashing a series of DJ mixes for Spannered.org. Their work includes remixes for Starkey, Parasite and Cardopusher, and they themselves have been remixed by high profile artists such as DJ Pinch and Drop The Lime.
Monkey Steak regularly perform around the UK, and abroad, including not least an opening performance on the Overkill Stage at last years Glade Festival. Over the last year they have played alongside artists such as 808 State, General Levy, David Rodigan and Aaron Spectre, and dubsteppers Hatcha, Kode9, Pinch and RSD (of Smith & Mighty)

Opening with the awesome bass pressure of the minimalist masterpiece ‘Deadstep’ and ending with the sublime underwater claustrophobia of ‘Unnamed Methane Sea’ this release is set to cement Micoland’s reputation as one of the people responsible for truly moving the dubstep blueprint into exiting new aural landscapes.

"At moments I'm reminded of Jeff Mills in his more chilled outings, perhaps messing around with Luke Vibert. At others there's the spirit of Tobias Schmidt in his Le Chimp Atomique phase. Mostly, though, I'm just impressed by how original, moving and cool the whole caboodle turns out to be."
