Groove du Monde, MULTICULTURAL GROOVE ORIENTAL BLACK MAGIC + NU-JAZZ = MONKOMAROK
MONKOMAROK is an innovative World-Jazz band, crossing traditional music, modern groove, jazz spirit, and feminine voice in French or arabic.
Brought through by the "oriental black magic" voice of Alima, Monkomarok reveals freshness and euphoric energy. Their songs express fascinating travel atmospheres.
- The band was created in Toulouse, in the south of France, in 1998.
- Their first official release, "Din Din Dan" (ENJA / Harmonia Mundi) (2000) , is an Aladdin's cave of travel atmospheres from Orient and Eastern Europe.
- The 2nd one, "Au Plafond !" (ENJA / Harmonia Mundi) (2002), is an intensive experience of bewitching acoustic sound and free jazz-fusion energy.
- With the 3rd one, "Végétale" (Jerkov / Mosaic) (2005), opened to the world, Monkomarok affirms a truly musical maturity.
- They have given more than 400 gigs, making some travels and shows-creations (with dancers, around the theme of Algeria, of Malagasy culture).
- They decided to stop and make a break in 2008, after not achieving a production unit for their unreleased 4rd album (you can hear some samples on this website).
The band members keep on being active as musicians, composers, producers, … and the MONKOMAROK band is potentially ready to start new adventures for creative projects …

Un concert exceptionnel a lieu le JEUDI 21 JANVIER 2010 au ZEBRE DE BELLEVILLE à PARIS à 19h30 (places disponibles à la fnac), l’occasion de se rencontrer ! Nous avons besoin de soutien de 2 manières : 1-Envoie moi ton e mail en mp que je puisse t’envoyer le flyer pour que tu puisses le diffuser (SYMPA) ; 2-Viens au concert en prenant ta place à la fnac, découverte ! (TRES SYMPA).
