Monte Perdido formed in Boulder, Colorado, in 1998. Combining their musical preferences, which included latin, flamenco, celtic, and rock, Monte Perdido achieved quickly a unique place in the Boulder music scene. In 1999 they recorded their first album in a 5 hour session, before moving to Paris, France in 2000. In Europe they performed for about 10 month in France, Italy, and Spain, where they were received enthusiastically. Monte Perdido recorded their second album, The Big Sleep, in the summer of 2001 just before calling a break. They are still on that break.
