Labeled as one of humboldt countys most prominent party/club dance bands Moo-Got-2 has been creating quite the buzz.
With their infectious dance grooves and booty shaking rhythms from start to finish,
the band flows effortlessly into a frenzy of
funk and rock reminiscent of bands like Galactic, Ween and the Motet. They also have
a lot psychedelic moments similar to STS9, Phish and the Disco Biscuits. The great
thing about this band is they have their own twist to the jamband element that is
unpredictable and exciting. The audience is always paying attention to this and
continuously egging the band on. In short Moo-Got-2 is all about fun. The have a great ability to take a simple funk tune and write lyrics that tell
stories. They play to the crowd very well night after night blending many
different styles such as funk, rock, reggae and latin into an eclectic mix. The percussion player of the group Lucas Hieronynus has added a new percussion palette to
the band that seems to sync very well with the collective sound. His latin and
samba influences round out the groups dynamic funk and rock structures. The band
has a great sense of being able to improvise in the moment and take a song to a
new place each time they perform it. Keyboardist Tomek Zajaczkowski continues
throughout the night to keep the music moving with his simple yet effective
melodic brushes that offer a nice contrast to Guitarist Mike Solomon's leads and
rhythms. Bassist Aaron Drago continues song after song to hold the whole thing
together with catchy bass runs and funky syncopation. He is definitely the glue
that binds this powerful funk machine. Darin Mitchell is keeping a trancy
back-beat that keeps everyone dancing without fail. He also does a majority of
the singing in the group, not an easy task for such an energetic and lively
drummer.
In the winter of '07 long time friend , very talented and original saxaphonist in the band Chris Noonan was invited to the band to play and Moo-Got-2 was complete…..or so they thought……after a run with another Humboldt county band and good friends Nucleus, the very funky Brian Swizlo asked about possibly doing some shows with moo-got-2 as a 2nd keyboardist to accent tomeks already pychedelic style and add more to what he thought was already a fine blend….After close consideration and a few very rocking shows the guys agreed that “Swiz” just might be the final missing link to the already very funky puzzle, and decided to give it a whirl for the summer of 08…….We will see where it goes from here but so far so good.
