Andrew Morgan's eponymous sophomore album picks up where dreaming debut "Misadventures in Radiology" leaves off. The second installment in the Kansas City-born songwriter's "Exile Trilogy," "Andrew Morgan" evokes cornerstone chamber pop albums like The Zombies' "Odessey & Oracle" and Badly Drawn Boy's "The Hour of the Bewilderbeast," yet bears a scope of arrangement and diversity of instrumentation all its own. A sense of wonder unifies the album's 17 tracks, which find a kindred spirit as much in mid-20th century Disney animated features as in the magical realism of Magritte, Jean-Pierre Jeunet, and The Clientele. Brought to life by a cast of 33 from October 1999 - May 2008 in 11 cities across 7 states and 2 countries, "Andrew Morgan" is a collection that is at once familiar and thrillingly foreign-- a thread of pop classicism that, while schooled in tradition, celebrates imagination above all.
Yo A-mor (that's yo street name), got your new joint on repeat. Diggin' it, of course "As Long As ..." is an instant classic but I'm really into "A Gesture" and "Mine and Mine Alone" those two tracks just punch in the gut and hit me right where it hurts. You know it's good when the shit makes eyes water.
Andrew!!! I downloaded your album and EP just now!!! I'll spread the word plus I love your commentary on Radiohead being middle-age millionaires. At that point, "those" artists should provide their work for free. They make great music but fuck'em. Our music comes straight from the heart and made with the sweat of our tears. We don't have the luxury to sit in the castle for months at a time and fuss over a snare sound. Love you bro!
I've been listening to your new songs on repeat this afternoon. They have such a positive vibe. I love them. You will be huge someday. They made a whisperer out of you.
So I just happened across Misadventures in Radiology last night and it is absolutely phenomenal. You are extremely talented and I can't wait for the new album.
Oh man I cant wait for April til your new album comes out. Can we pre order it anywhere? And misadventures reissued! Brill! The lads from Vickers Vimy!
