Après avoir côtoyer avec les plus grands musiciens de blues de sa génération ; ALEXIS KORNER, ALEX HARVEY, DAVY GRAHAM, PETER GREEN, JOHN MAYALL, ERIC CLAPTON, etc. Mox travaille pendant quatre ans avec IKE et TINA TURNER.
Avec l..aide de PATRICK VERBEKE, il décide enfin de se consacrer à sa propre carrière, et se fixe en France, où il trouve un climat plus propice au blues.
Il enregistre son premier album sous son nom, où son style très personnel et sa connaissance de l..instrument en font l..un des meilleurs disques d..harmonica blues de cette époque.
Depuis, il assure la promotion de ses deux disques suivants, en tournant en France et dans toute l..Europe.
Mox a réalisé plusieurs ouvrages pédagogiques sur l..harmonica dont la méthode HARMONICA BLUES
1962: Débute, en duo de Folk Blues, Dominique et Mox. Chanteur et harmoniciste du
groupe De Kuper Sect (R n' Blues).
1963: Joue avec Redcaps (R n' B),et John Lamont (Country Blues)
1964: Premiers enregistrements et tournées dans les clubs et les Universités de
l'Angleterre avec The Alex Harvey Soul Band.
1965~67: Participe à la fondation des Cousins, l'un des clubs de Folk Music les plus en
vogue à l'époque.
Il joue avec: Alexis Korner, John Renbourne, Bert Jansch, Paul Simon,etc..
1968 : Continue à animer Les Cousins. Rejoint le groupe Mighty Baby(Progressive Rock).
Tournées en Angleterre, Hollande et Belgique.
1969-71 : Fonde avec Micky Finn et Sham Gopal le groupe Cosmosis (Indo-Rôck Fusion).
Tournées dans toute l'Europe. S'installe en Hollande.
1972-74: De retour en Angleterre, crée un duo avec Issac Guilllory.
Grave deux 33T avec Colin Scot.
Tournées Europeen en première partie avec Strawbs, King Crimson et John Mayal.
Recontre Ike et Tina Turner.
1975-77: S'installe avec eux aux U.S.A.(Los Angeles).
A été formé par Ike comme ingénieur du son et tour-manager.
Tournées aux U.S.A, au Canada, en Australie, Indonésie et Europe.
1978 : Revient en Angleterre pour reformer le groupe Bonzo Dog.
Retravaille avec Sham Gopal en France et en Espagne
première partie de Paco De Lucia).
Tournées d'accompagnement dans toute l'Allemagne de l'Ouest pour la promotion
de l'album de Gunter Hoffmann.
Crée à Paris le Phantom Orchestra.
1979 : S'installe en Irlande avec le Phantom Orchestra.
Création d'une émission télévisée sur l'histoire de la musique pop.
Tournées dans toute l'Irlande, le Royaume-Uni, la Hollande et la Belgique,
1980 : Tournées en Europe avec le Festival of Fools et en duo, avec Issac Guillory.
Rencontre G.T.Moore and the Outsiders (Reggae) avec lesquels il travaille
pendant deux ans,
S'installe en France.
1981: Rencontre, à Paris, Guillaume Petite et Jimmy Gibson avec lesquels il fonde
Bluebloods (Blues).
Forme avec Cyril Lefèbvre un duo de Country Blues.
Enregistrements avec François Guierre et Patrick Verbeke.
1982 : Accompagne, à l'harmonica, les tournées de promotion de Patrick Verbeke.
Concerts avec Bluebloods et tournée en Espagne avec Cyril Lefèbvre.
Grave son premier 33T en tant que chanteur, harmoniciste et flûtiste chez Paris Album.
Anime un premier stage d'harmonica blues.
Participe à la semaine du Blues au Festival de La Rochelle.
Tournées de promotion dans toute la France pour son album.
1983: Joue "l'harmoniciste" dans l'opéra Transibérien de Blais Cendrars mis en musique par Antoine Duhamel aux Bouffes du Nord.
Passe dix jours à Alger et cinq jours au Forum des Halles avec le Quintet de
Mox Gowland et continue ses tournées en France.
l984: Préparation d'une méthode d'harmonica.
Tournées en France, avec le Transibérien et joue toujours du blues en duo, trio et quartet.
1985: Sortie de la méthode Masterclass Harmonica Blues (Jetty).
Invité à jouer en Allemagne avec son quartet.
1986-89: Tournées en France, Espagne et Allemagne. Enregistre pour Ornament Records (Cologne) The Blue Album.
Il approfondit sa connaissance du répertoire Jazz en jouant avec le groupeanglais The Noakes Brothers
1990-93: Concerts et tournées en plusieurs formules, duo, trio et quartet, et en plusieurs styles - country blues, blues rock et Jazz. Assure les cours de musique et répertoire à l'Ars Nova Musicollege de Paris.
1994-2000 : Rencontre Jean-Pierre Danielsen (Guitare). Leur collaboration s'est d'abord traduite par l'enregistrement d'un CD "Live" au Petit Théâtre d'Etampes, (Triade) puis, pendant sept ans, par une série de tournées et de concerts dans toute la France. Sortie de trois livre /cédé et publier à intervalles réguliers les cours d'harmonica.
2001- : C'est lors d'une intervention a la M. J. C. de Ris-Orangis qu'il rencontre le banjöiste Jean-Marie Redon. Ils décident de créer un spectacle ensemble.Tournées en France
2005- : Rencontre Peters Day, (Mandoline & Chant). Participe dans son septete, the Titanic String Band (TSB).
Concerts et tournées avec le TSB et J-M Redon.
2007- : Crée, avec Peters Day & Ross Mckerrell (Guitare& Chant) les "New Hokum Sheiks"
2008- : Enregistre avec les "New Hokum Sheiks" un CD "Live in Tousson Nº6.

.. Rares ont été les disques qui, en 1982, m'ont fait trébucher dans les tréfonds du plaisir. Pourtant, s'il en existe un, le Lp de Mox Gowland sorti chez Paris-Album, est bien ce-lui-la.
Pour l'avoir rencontré souvent en compagnie de mon pote Verbeke, je savais que Mox était un harmoniciste inspiré, sensible et terriblement doué. Mais je ne le soupçonnais point d'être ce compositeur a l'inépuisable talent; un talent qui lui conféra le pouvoir d'innover et de rafraîchir cette vieille mais si jouissive musique qu'est le blues.
Pour ce faire, Mox n'était pas allé chercher l'impossible.
Juste un incommensurable feeling, un pétillant swing qui évitait toute lourdeur et, de temps a autre, l'utilisation d'instruments peu usités dans le style, comme le violon ou la flûte. Le tour était joué. Mais la personnalité même du créateur en était largement responsable et demandait quelques explications. Par un petit matin tiède, dans un bar non loin de votre revue favorite, dans mon magnétophone, il se confia, vingt ans de carrière, ce n'est pas rien!...
Tout débuta en fait pour notre British, en 1962, quand il commença a se produire dans toute l'Angleterre avec des groupes de blues, de country et de rhythm'n'blues. Quelques années plus tard, il fonda l'un des clubs folk les plus en vogue a l'époque: " Les Cousins "; cela lui permit entre autres de jammer avec des gens aussi prestigieux que Paul Simon, Champion Jack Dupree, T. Bone Walker et Hendrix.
Puis, après avoir gravé deux 30 cm et tourné en Europe avec The Strawbs et John Mayall, il s'installe a Los Angeles pour y travailler, pendant 4 ans, avec Ike and Tina Turner.
De retour en Europe en 1978, il joue et tourne avec de nombreux groupes comme Bonzo Dog Band et Phantom Orchestra et se fixe a Paris pour y accompagner des artistes français.
Il faut entendre Mox parler du plaisir qu'il éprouve a jouer avec l'ami Verbeke. Il faut aussi l'entendre parler du blues dont il a une conception bien personnelle:
" Pour la plupart des gens ", dit-il, " le blues, c'est quand on a le moral a zéro. Mais le blues peut aussi exprimer la joie de vivre et ce " je ne sais quoi "... Une chose est sure : le blues est toujours dans la vie, dans le quotidien. Toutes les musiques sont le résultat de sentiments... "
Et Mox de secouer de joie sa grande crinière rousse qui lui descend sur la nuque. Comme tous les bluesmen, point de frime excessive ni froideur distante chez Gowland. Un type profondément pudique et simple, qui croit en la qualité des rapports humains. Pour lui, l'excellent climat qui se dégage de son disque vient surtout du fait de la grande complicité et du bon feeling qui réunissait les musiciens. Et quand on lui demande ce qu'il fait lorsqu'il ne joue pas de musique, il répond avec une spontanéité quasi innocente: " La vie sans musique ? Pas possible, c'est quand je serai mort! "
Puis il avoue les goûts de tout le monde, a savoir le cinéma, la lecture, la bonne bouffe et la vie a Paris, ville qu'il préfère, avec Amsterdam. Mais, rapidement, la musique re-prend le dessus de la conversation. Il évoque ses projets. Nombreux. D'abord, son prochain disque qui lui tient tant a coeur. Un 33 T qu'il veut bluesy of course mais également plus rhythm'n'blues et, si possible, avec les musiciens qui l'accompagnent en ce moment sur scène. Sortie prévue? Début de l'automne. Avant cela, Mox compte fermement sur une tournée d'été importante. Et pour vous faire patienter, fans du bouillonnant rouquin, ve-nez donc le retrouver du 19 au 23 avril, a 21 h, au théâtre du Forum des Halles a Paris. Milteau et Giroux seront en première partie.
