She firmly believes in the importance and power of the arts to harness human potential. DANIELA KOLUNDZIJA
has been inspired by dance movement expression for over 25 years and comes from a diverse dance background. She has performed professionally in many corporate and high profile events, cultural and community events throughout Sydney as well as concert/theatre productions. She has worked in collaboration with other professional dance/theatre artists and companies over the years. ie. Arabesque, Sirocco, The Renaissance Players. Daniela’s interest in traditional Arabic music and dance has lead her to Hilal Dance and she feels the yin and yang qualities of movement, richness and beauty of the Hilal Dance art form make it a holistic expression. Daniela is also a practitioner of Yoga, the ancient Indian healing art and, for her, the two practices integrate in a complimentary way.

Choreographer/dancer Sarah Hamilton, Composer/ musician/dancer Marianthe Loucataris work collaboratively using the medium of Hilal Dance, a contemporary Egyptian dance form developed by artist Suraya Hilal (www.hilaldance.co.uk) They also draw on their extensive and diverse experience in various forms of Eastern and Western dance, theatre and music.

Set to Joseph Tawadros’ evocative recorded solo improvisations, Oscillations features the soft and powerful sounds of the Oud - the oldest and foremost musical instrument of the Arab world. Using pure movement aesthetic and clear lines of expression, the dancers bring to light the evocative themes of taking flight (On the wing), a solo dialogue (Between head and heart) and (Haneen), where two different identities merge as one. Oscillations effortlessly blurs the boundaries between East/West & Contemporary/Traditional.
The evening’s program also features three pieces by Australian Artists; Dancer/ Choreographer Sarah Hamilton and Musician/ Composer Marianthe Loucataris from their
program Imago for live piano, percussion and accordion.
