About Motion Picture Soundtrack - ALBUM COMING SOON...
ABOUT THE BAND
Motion Picture Soundtrack are an unsigned 4 piece alternative rock band from Canterbury in
Kent, citing influences including Arcade Fire and Sigur Ros.
Having previously worked with Hugh Jones (Echo and the Bunnymen, I am Kloot) and Dan Austin
(Doves, Massive Attack), Motion Picture Soundtrack spent much of 2007 making their debut
album in Copenhagen and London with Paul Schroeder (The Stone Roses, The Verve) and Cenzo
Townshend (Editors, Bloc Party, Klaxons).
Their live experience covers over 150 dates nationwide, as well as appearances at the Lounge
on the Farm and Kent Music (Z008) festivals; International highlights such as headlining the
Roter Salon in Berlin and support slots with Magne F (a-ha) and Kubb. 2008 sees the digital
release of "Departure", the bands debut single, on 21st April, along with a growing list of
live dates including the BBC Introducing tour throughout April and a number of national
festivals over the summer.
WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING
"Soaring, epic tunes. They Could be really big. One to watch out for!"
- Steve Harris (XFM)
"Channelling the spirit of Doves, Editors and Interpol, Motion Picture Soundtrack are from
Canterbury in Kent and cite Arcade Fire and Sigur Rós among their influences. There's a
similar widescreen sensibility at work, as the intense and panoramic surge of their track
Departure comes at you like a shower of knives." - Road to V (Festival)
"This is one of the best bands I have heard this year. With memories of John Martyn, Talk Talk
and Radiohead - and with Motion Picture Soundtrack’s original style - these tracks sound fresh
and focused. The band deserve to do well."
- Phill Brown M.B.E (Engineer: David Bowie, Led Zeppelin, Bob Marley)
"Well impressed. Really good song writing & music, and a band that should definitely be heard!"
- Jase Burns (Kerrang! Radio)
"Motion Picture Soundtrack are going from strength to strength. We can only expect exciting
things from a band I am proud to call local."
- Tom Kirkby (BBC Kent Introducing)
