The whole problem can be stated quite simply by asking, 'Is there a meaning to music?' My answer would be, 'Yes.' And 'Can you state in so many words what the meaning is?' My answer to that would be, 'No.'
Aaron Copland (1900 - 1990)
"Austin's newest supergroup get to hang and play. . . .music".
Less than a year ago nomadic guitar player Phil Brown (Little Feat) arrived in Austin, Texas and reconnected with drummer Pat Mastelotto (King Crimson, XTC, Mr.Mister, Trail of the Dead), the two had first met in the late 70s doing sessions in LA.
They started weekly Austin bar gigs encouraging other players to sit in and then one night BAM! the massive sound of Malford Milligan (the legendary blues voice from Storyville, Stick People) erupted from the house, a few months later the bottom feeder Mark Andes (Canned Heat, Spirit, Firefall, Heart, Alejandro Escovedo) arrived in the same fashion and impossibly, out of those inauspicious beginnings, in those sweaty bars, a kinship was born.

Your CD rocks. I love Malford's voice. I have a song for him but he has never gotten back to me. Maybe you can get with me and pass it on to him. I could lay down some sweet Country Blues licks with some Saxes flowing in the background and some choir members from the St. James Baptist Church singing behind all that. Song is called: "Midnight Train To Memphis". It is a hit song waiting for Malford to get with it. Everyone who has heard it says it will be a hit on my next album I am getting ready to do in Nashville right now.
Hope you are enjoying your CD and I would love to hear what you thought of it. Your are a great player and I have enjoyed all the groups you have played. I miss Firefall & Rick Roberts. I was living in Boulder for a while when the group was hot. I used to hang out at Tulagi's a lot. My Aunt & Uncle had a place in Left Hand Canyon north of downtown where I used to stay with them every now and then. I used to do some session work at Caribou Ranch now and then watching the late Jeff Geurcio (sp.) working wonders at the board. Ah the early years of life.
The Bump Band rocked the house last Friday at Saxon Pub. I picked the right night to come out. I hope Ian liked his CD too. I'd just love to hear Jody Denmark play it on his radio show.
