About Mukatsuku Records strictly ltd vinyl only label
Mukatsuku began life in 1996.Essentially, it was a very successful, japanese influenced club night in London that ran for 18 months in a tiny china town venue called the Clinic. The three main members were Mikkel Togsverd,Marlon Celestine & Nik Weston but regulars and silent members included the infamous monsterism maker Pete Fowler who designed our initial logo and backdrops and the infamous DJ Afro now part of Blue Foundation and who in 2006 worked on DJ Krush's album. We were nominated for club night of the year in 1997 by the London Evening standard. We didn't actually win the thing but hey !
After the club finished we were involved in many other events like Shinkansen (with DJ krush ),Smoke,Ookami Cuts,Those kids and Retreat and wherever we were in the world either together or seperately as a promotion or an event we would use the Mukatsuku name as our DJ crew name.Up until late 2007 myself & koh Uemura were running Onward International at the london club ruby lo and nowadays you can catch me spinning monthly at Smiths in Farringdon and regularly at Jazz Cafe etc.
Mukatsuku Pr started up around 2001 as a promotional company promoting nu jazz and broken beat labels and as a music consultant to labels and artists.............................
As a dj ive played in over 26 countries with 13 dj tours of japan & including gigs in Russia,Australia,Poland,Canada,Singapore and beyond...Been lucky enough to spin with a host of bands & DJ's including Gilles Peterson/Koop/Nicola Conte/Hugh Masekela/Marlena Shaw/Lou Donaldson/Lonnie Smith/Courtney Pine/Tricky/Richard Dorfmeister/Soil & Pimp Sessions/Five Corners Quintet/Jazztronik/Toshio Matsuura/Grooveman Spot/DJ Mitsu The Beats/Terry Callier/Tania Maria/Sleep Walker/Patrick Forge/Jazzanova/Recloose/United Future Organisation/Mc Coy Tyner/Quasimode/ Kyoto Jazz Massive/Yukihiro Fukutomi/Calm/Moodyman/Recloose/Mark de Clive Lowe/Ben Westbeech/ Bugz In The Attic/etc etc.................................
