Reviews of "Those Who Dare":
SOUNDVENUE (4 stjerner):
"...'Those Who Dare' beviser,
at der stadig er masser af substans og forskellighed
at finde på den danske rockscene.
History of the citizens of Munich
The Danish band Munich plays alternative rock, with a wide spectrum of inspiration: from the classic rock song, where the chorus and the good melody are the most important thing – to the melodic and melancholy post rock.
The band have recorded their long awaited debut album and it has been released in Denmark on Warfare Records in Denmark.
The first single from the album, “The Young Ones”, was playlisted as one of ‘This Weeks Track’ on DR P3 (the Danish equivalent to BBC Radio 1).
Before the debut album, the band released a critically acclaimed EP entitled “With Smiling Lips”. The band also recorded a track for a compilation released on the Dutch-based indie-label Volkoren. The track “In Your Rooms” was the last on the compilation and was pointed out by many reviewers as the best on the entire disc.
The band started playing in 2002, have played an endless number of live jobs, toured with large, Danish bands and played at numerous festivals. The band has also toured Germany, by public demand from their ever-growing Germany fan base.
The Icelandic Saga
Munich loves Iceland and the love seems to be mutual. In the fall of 2007, Munich’s first single “The Young Ones” was played on the Icelandic radio station X-977 and the song was an instant hit. The listeners supported the song and the band, and all of a sudden Munich had a 1 hit single. “The Young Ones” topped the Island rock chart for more than a month.
Also the second single topped the Iceland chart and after that Munich was invited by X-977 to come to Iceland on tour. The band played some of the biggest venues in Iceland – and a great deal of them were sold out. 1600 people attended the 5 concerts – and one in six of them bought a special Iceland-edition of the forthcoming debut album. After a very successful visit to Iceland, Munich signed a deal with the world renowned record label SmekkleysaSM/Bad TasteSM (Björk, Sigur Ros) and their debut album “Those Who Dare” will be released in Iceland sometime in 2008.
In Denmark, the long awaited album will be released in the early summer and will be followed by an extensive tour active both in Denmark, Scandinavia and Germany. And hopefully, Iceland once again.
