O projecto Música Profana, oriundo de Ponte de Lima, nasce do desejo do seu fundador Daniel Moreira em aliar o Metal a elementos da música Tradicional e Folk. O peso caracteristico do Metal é cortado por sons de concertinas e gaitas de foles, assim como pela voz feminina. A baixa afinação proporciona uma base instrumental sólida que contrasta com as melodias e instrumentos agudos.
Inteiramente cantadas em português por Catarina Lima, as canções baseiam-se em Mitos, Lendas e feitos históricos do povo português. O tema "Mostrengo" adaptado do poema de Fernando Pessoa (Mensagem) refere-se ao encontro mitológico que os nossos descobridores tiveram com Adamastor, já o "Mensageiro da Névoa" é inspirado no mito de D. Sebastião. "Pieira dos Lobos" é uma lenda da zona de Ponte de Lima e o "Canto do Poeta" (tema acústico) não tem qualquer base mitológica, podendo-se considerar uma homenagem à poesia.

The project “Musica Profana” comes from a little town in the north of Portugal and was founded by Daniel Moreira in early 2008. This musical project mixes Metal with elements from the traditional and folk music, such as akordeon, bagpipes, flute and percussion. The heaviness of downtuned metal is cut by the female voice of Catarina Lima and by the folk melodies every now and then.
The lyrics are also based in traditional Myths and Legends from Portugal and sung in portuguese. “Pieira dos Lobos” (Wolves Keeper [female]) is about a lengend of a sheperdess of wolves and the love of a King by her, “Mostrengo” (something like Monster) talks about the mythologic figure “Adamastor” that haunted the south Africa sea and was feared by the portuguese discoveres. “Mensageiro da Nevoa” (The Messenger of the Mist) is a song about the portuguese King “D. Sebastiao” that disapeared in a battle in Africa and his return in a foggy morning to save the kingdom is until today hoped. This is why we are always hoping for a miracle to solve our problems! “Canto do Poeta” (Chant of the Poet) is just a tribut to poetry.

O Festival Velha@Rock vai ser realizado no dia 30 de Janeiro de 2010, na associação Música Velha em Pernes, com abertura das portas à 21h. O Festival tem como entidade organizadora o Rock da Velha Produções e tem como objectivo divulgar bandas nacionais. O Festival irá ter 4 bandas e 1 DJ. As bandas são: Vulture, Hot Limousine, Break Inside e Nomad. Conta também com o DJ Artur Durand (Xantarim).
As entradas são 3,5 euros com direito a uma bebida.

Almeida (Massa Última), Triarca, Mara Neves and M.J.

I have been listening a lot of finnish folk metal but you guys surprised me in the good way.. portuguese is perfect for folk metal! keep up the good work! ;)
