When My Chemical Romance released Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge in 2004, they were praised for being aggressive, melodic and forward thinking and quickly became one of the biggest bands on the modern rock scene, going platinum in the U.S. and selling over two million copies worldwide. But as theatrical and dramatic as the album was, it was a mere dress rehearsal for My Chemical Romance’s dark, bombastic album The Black Parade.
While Three Cheers and its predecessor I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love were loose concepts lyrically, The Black Parade is a breathtaking, fully-formed epic in the vein of David Bowie’s Ziggy Stardust or Pink Floyd’s The Wall.
“When we started working on the record, all of these theatrical songs that were about life and death started to come out,” says frontman Gerard Way. “That’s when we decided we wanted to throw all caution to the wind and aspire to make a huge record.”
Guitarist Frank Iero expounds, “We said let’s just dive in. We go all the way or we don’t go anywhere.”
Hi, my name is Kelyna. When my sister was younger her best friend committed suicide on my birthday and she got really depressed and was so close to killing herself on my birthday a year or two later...she had the gun all ready and everything but she heard your song I'm Not Okay and it changed her life. Since then she's been raped..almost twice and has gone through a lot of crap and she only made it through because of you guys. She knows all your songs, has posters in her room, has the limited edition mask thing and tons more. She's gone to your concerts and tried to meet you but she never got a chance, she wrote letters to you, about 5 I think, in a My Chemical Romance journal and they're just so..deep and depressing she was dissapointed majorly every time she didn't get to meet you but her old best friend's did. Recently she's been sinking back into depression and I know it would mean soooo much if she got to meet you guys...it's like her life goal. By the way I'm her sister...14 years old she's 21 and I'll do anything...I will not rest until she meets you guys or maybe just a quick phone call would be good...just please consider it. Thank you.
Welcome to JamLegend, the place to "play" music online. Like Guitar Hero and Rock Band, we have created an engaging way for artists to promote and market themselves online. Unlike those games, our site: does not limit the number of artists, songs, or genres available on the platform; can host tournaments where hundreds of users can engage with music; and provide widgets and link to your websites and integrate with social networks (coming soon). Bands that have been on Guitar Hero have received huge publicity boosts. Dragonforce's album sales increased from 2,000 to 40,000 albums per week after being on Guitar Hero 3. Similarly, Motley Crue's single last May sold 4x more copies through Rock Band than on iTunes and Amazon.com combined. Some day, artists on JamLegend will experience the same effect. We will be public soon and would like to have you (or the artists you represent) join our service. Your feedback throughout this process will help us make a better and more streamlined system for future users. Once you've signed up, you'll be able to: Upload songs - Promote your music in a fun and engaging way. Customize your Artist Page - Tell JamLegend about yourself with a tagline (105 characters), and a description (as long as you want), or upload your own graphics and artwork to customize the feel of your Artist Page and Venue (where JamLegend users will play your songs). Link to your other sites - Have a MySpace profile? Last.fm? iTunes, Amazon, CD Baby, etc? Put links to these services to attract JamLegend users. And much more... We are looking to provide an innovative new platform for music gaming and we look forward to working with you! Ready?
