Born in 1985 in Cleveland Ohio as just one guy with a drum machine, MDID is currently writing songs for it's unlucky 13th CD for release hopefully before we all get blown up by our crazy "leaders". The band's long and relatively obscure history includes 3 records on the Homestead label in the 80's, 2 on Scat Records in the early 90's, and 2 on Emperor Jones Records in the late 90's, 2 European and several U.S. tours. For updates and details, visit http://www.mydadisdead.com/blog, and I know that all myspace friends don't yet have a copy of our latest CD, A Divided House... Please advance forthwith to http://www.mydadisdead.com/store.htm and rectify that
little "situation"
Like I said privately to you and now declare publicly: I remember around 1988 in NYC when I played in Camouflage Danse, how I saw posters for My Dad is Dead all over the Loisaida (Lower East Side) where I live (13th St. & First Ave.), and my dad did indeed die in 1990, but that was not your fault. Best wishes from Mr. Obscure Himself in Peoria Ill in Noise. Glad I finally found you here!
I am so grooving on the new stuff. You're unlike any other band I've ever heard...and I've heard a lot. You don't really fit any genre, and that's the beauty of it (maybe not in record sales of course). The song Old Friends is too awesome by half. I really appreciate what you're doing. Best of luck in all your endeavors.
I just played a track by "my dad is dead" about an hour ago, at a club called "Aloha," in Ottawa, Canada. There are those who play your music. And we are one of those. Well, I was, anyway.
Move to Austin, I'll play bass, I know how to know, have better rhythm skills than any of your past lemon-scented flakes. That's why you were always so obscure, sheesh. Schmuck. Kiddin. But come, my other'll play drums if I threaten him. Hope you two are all good, mad luv from Kang n me to you two.
During our move, I discovered that WCSB had kept almost everything since 1974. I found a couple of your applications, one from Tim Gilbride, and one from Doug Gillard. I thought that was neat.
Hi, long time ago since I have listened again to "Chopping down the family tree". What a great album. I'm so glad to have this record. The new songs here on myspace also sound great. Come to Europe to play live and bring Prisonshake with you.
