Myriad Creatures became a band when the four of them threw their London lives into a van and several hours later arrived in Berlin. It was January 2007 and it was very cold.
Having conjured up a collection of raw, essential and harmony-heavy rock’n’roll tunes, the Creatures wasted no time in unleashing their blistering and unpredictable live performances – seducing Berlin‘s sweaty youth and carving themselves a guitar-shaped niche amongst the city‘s Techno DJ‘s.
The band’s live reputation as well as the obvious parallels with The Beatles in Hamburg, have ensured great demand for the Creatures. They opened Berlin Fashion Week 2008, were the faces of the Levis Unbuttoned campaign and headlined Popkomm 2008.
After nearly a year in Berlin the band wrote off their van and in doing so destroyed any plans of returning home to London. Happy to be stranded, The Creatures
released their first single ‘The Hero’ on Jackalope Records and secured themselves a management and publishing deal in Berlin.
A fortuitous meeting with legendary producer and fellow Berliner, Gordon
Raphael (The Strokes, Regina Spektor, Skin), led to them recording their hotly
anticipated debut album together in an old GDR radio station.
