  • Bio

Natasha Forrest's origins go back to the one-off jam band Inoue Shuichi and the Electric Chaos, which featured Inoue Shuichi of Fukuoka blues punks Folk Enough on drums, Yashiro Yuuki of Saladabar on guitar, Ian Martin of Call And Response Records on the other guitar, and Tallboy from Fukuoka broken hip hop unit Moth on sampler. .... A month later, after drinking too much at Akihabara Club Goodman, Ian asked Yuuki to form another jam band for a special gig at Enban, the legendary record shop-cum-event space in the Tokyo suburb of Koenji. Yuuki immediately recruited Ian as a singer, Ogawa Naoki from Tacobonds as a guitarist, and Yuuki's girlfriend Nishihara Aoi (of And About Hers) on frying pan. This band was christened Kleiner Junge by Ian, and they performed an unforgettable set to an audience of six people, that climaxed in a cacophonic ten-minute book-throwing session. .... A couple of months after that unforgettable experience, Ian, Yuuki and Naoki formed Natasha Forrest after, once again, drinking too much at Akihabara Club Goodman. Yuuki moved to drums, Naoki and Ian stayed where they were, and Aoi soon joined on bass. They recorded their first song, a cover version of the Ohio Express classic Yummy Yummy Yummy, for a special Call And Response Valentine CD/R compilation. This was a learning experience. Aoi learned that she didn't enjoy playing bass, so she quickly switched to guitar. Ian learned that he didn't trust the other three to do backing vocals. .... Later songs were all more or less original, and dealt maturely with the important contemporary issues of sex, the Second World War, and the fall of communism in Europe. 2008 saw the band go on hiatus, before re-emerging in 2009 with Junya and Keika from The Mornings taking over from Aoi and Yuuki on guitar and drums. .... .. .. .. .. .. .. .. ..
