As a self-taught musician, Fowler never really considered the possibility of becoming a “real” performing musician until much later in life. His guitar playing/songwriting began as an avenue of relaxation as well as an attempt to make sense of the adolescent turmoil he experienced due to the family move in the middle of a school year and the longing for the familiarity and comfort of home.
Although he would never boast, Nate plays every instrument on his EP release “The Crashings,” which was produced by Tyler Archer and Fowler in the attic of Archer’s Boise home.
In 2003 Fowler went on an eight-week music tour of South America at the age of 17. He played drums for a band out of Montana affiliated with Youth With A Mission. Just two years later, Nate manned the drums for the same band heading for South West India on another eight-week music tour. Since then, Fowlers’ acoustic act has shared the stage with such acts as: Collective Soul, Hawk Nelson, The Listening, Pivitplex, Issakar, Remedy Drive, and many others.
With the experience of touring under his belt, Nate continued to develop his skills and experiment with live on stage techniques that make his acoustic shows stand out. He is known for his stage presence, humor, and the passion conveyed in his lyrics. Fowler notes, “I think your live performance is the most powerful thing you have as a musician.” For that reason, the following two years was a process of collecting pedals, gear, and experimenting with sounds. As a result, he now controls the tempo of his live shows using a complex pedal board system. This adds unique sounds, tones, and samples to some of Fowlers’ live onstage songs.
Among his many talents is his ability to relate to any audience through his soulful, heartfelt lyrics of love, pain, passion and hope. This aspiring 23 year old creates live performances that are memorable to his audience with his solo acoustic act or accompanied by his backing band.
Keep an eye out for Fowlers' sophomore project that will be started in June of 2009.
