The Nate Lopez Trio brings you the gritty funk of the 60's with a
modern twist. The trio's latest live album shows that the Nate Lopez
Trio is the hardest groovin' group in the Bay Area. Featuring Nate
Lopez playing both bass and guitar at the same time on his custom 8
string guitar, Burjor Dastur playing any and every kind of sound you
can imagine on his synth-guitar, and Steve Serbins driving the group
on drums, this group makes more sound than most sextets.
Within the tight arrangements of classic tunes and originals, the
group focuses on creativity, communication and experimentation. Having
played together for over ten years, these are not individuals on
stage, but a collective consciousness.
Nate Lopez's signature style is diverse, lyrical, and absolutely his
own. Nate has studied classical Indian music with Ustad Ali Akbar Khan
and has been playing for over 15 years in the Bay Area and Wine
country both solo and with different groups and genres including Pop,
Blues, R+B, Jazz, Latin, and Philippine. This gives Nate a unique
perspective on what good music is and has always helped keep his mind
open. Nate's Novax guitar has three bass strings and 5 guitar strings
which gives Nate the ability to welcome the challenge of playing both
the bass, chords, and melody at the same time.
Nate has been gigging professionally in the Bay Area for more than 15
years, and continues to play often both solo and with many different
types of groups.
Burjor Dastur brings a sound and feel that is unparalleled. With his synth guitar,
fingers and mind he can sound like a flute, organ, trumpet, or Eric
Clapton, and he brings a texture that not many groups have. Burjor
loves playing in the Nate Lopez Trio because he gets to experiment,
improvise, and play many different styles of music.
Drummer Steve Serbins keeps it all together with his spot on time and
dynamic presence. Born in Chicago, Steven has played in many Bay area
bands. He plays solid and has great technique. Also,he has studied
with David Garibaldi of Tower of Power. So the funk is in him and
needs to escape! Nate Lopez has been a featured artist at many venues such
