Mic Conway (Captain Matchbox) and his lunatic rhythmagicians combine jug band blues, political satire and musical mayhem into a new-Vaudevillian cabaret, featuring everything including a real kitchen sink. Juggling, magic, tap dancing, ventriloquism and some very funny songs for all ages.

Known by many for Captain Matchbox Whoopee Band, Circus Oz and from various film and TV appearances, Mic Conway has collected together some of Australia's finest oddball virtuosos, including Cazzbo Johns (The Kransky Sisters, The Australian Opera and Ballet Orchestra), Phil “Philthy Dunny Seat” Donnison (Jugalug), Jeremy “Junkyard” Cook (The Elton Jack Show, Black Hatz, Justine Clarke) and Marcus Holden (Fiddlers Feast). Witness fire, illusion, passion, irreverent satire, singing saws, flying chooks and musical mayhem.

Since 1997, the National Junk Band has had toes tapping and jaws dropping at festivals and pubs, as well as on radio and TV. They have four death-defying albums to their credit. “Corporate Chook” is due to be released on 4 July 2008. Their DVD of live concert footage and interviews: “Everything You Never Wanted to Know” must be seen to be believed.

“Mic Conway looks like he was born on a cabaret stage… his ease with a variety of cabaret styles from music hall and vaudeville to New Wave testifies to this involvement and his expertise is apparent.” : The Age

“Fully rounded entertainment making people giggle, dance and go 'Wow!'... Surprises abound ... A bewdy!” : John Shand, Sydney Morning Herald

CD Launch - Music Deli Presents Jim Conway
Saturday 12 July 2008
The Harp Hotel, 900 Princes Hwy Tempe.
Door Charge is $20 - Show starts at 8pm.
The launch of Music Deli Presents Jim Conway at the Harp will be a memorable one, with Chris Wilson (Paul Kelly, Crown of Thorns) joining Jim and the 5-piece Big Wheel on stage to create some amazing music. The launch will be a family affair for the Conway Clan with Mic Conway as MC for the night, and hopefully joining his brother for a few songs. Jim and Mic’s nephew, Tamlin, will be supporting his uncle on the night. As an accomplished singer/songwriter, Tamlin is quickly earning a reputation as a truly captivating performer with his hybrid mix of roots, reggae and rock.

Come early for this gig as The Harp is a small venue, and this promises to be a big night.
