If you have ever wanted to knock out the high school bully on graduation day, then make out with his girlfriend at the podium, Native June is the soundtrack to your life. It is a band that weaned a pitbull on childhood dreams and set it loose on corporate America.
Only several years ago, in the heart of Hollywood, California, four musicians patented the hottest new sound west of the Continental Divide: Grit Rock. It all started when Gabriel Watson (vox, guitar) met Matt Vannucci (guitar/mandolin) and Jeff Streitel (drums) at a Los Angeles loft party and spent the night rambling over music, folklore and football. The conversation was rudely interrupted by British expatriate, Tristan Hendy (bass, keyboards), who erupted into the room claiming to be “The Bouncing Ball”. Although the world may never know what he meant by this statement, one thing is certain; Native June was born that night to create an ass-shakin’ new sound.
Some say their distinctive sound was created when the ‘05 earthquake rocked the top floor of the 1940 Cotner rehearsal studio, and all of the infectious vocal melodies, jagged guitar hooks, vintage keys and cheap mandolins imploded into ground zero, aka, “the JT Big Beat.” But those closest to the music know that the sound was conceived far from the streets of Los Angeles.
Native June’s music has its roots in cities, highways, and taverns across the United States and abroad: it rises on the sweltering heat of Pittsburgh steelyards and in the dust cloud behind a ‘78 Ford pick-up, barreling through the back hills of Southern Indiana. It is in the thrum of a rush-hour train in downtown Philly, and it shatters in your mouth like broken teeth at a London pub.
But where do we all fit into this tall-tale? What does all of it really mean? It means that Native June will be blazing a mighty trail through your town sometime soon, bringing with it the places and stories that will define our generation. It leads back to you!

In the magicalities of a could, Between the probabilities of a would, Beyond the trivialities of a should, In these ungraspable mysticalities There lies a secret a passage… To this extraordinary wood.
But for you, it unfolds easily and true And the only thing you have to do Is press play, and you’ll have a view.
