Angle of Incidence is an energetic, alternative, progressive band that leans towards the rock and groove stylings of Primus, Tool, and System of a Down, interlaced with a forceful rock and hip-hop flavoring on vocals that when combined add up to a sound geared towards an ageless group of music lovers. Angle of Incidence is stationed at 113 ½ Main St. Oxford, North Carolina.
With all of the events and prospects lined up for Angle of Incidence, we have developed a medium of communication with our fans to keep them updated on our continued development and to also create an awareness of our goals outside of our immediate band family. Via band biography and band newsletters we will keep our websites current and packed with information about our endeavors and successes. At this time, we are in the midst of recording our vast catalogue of music, out of which selected tracks will be released on the Angle of Incidence EP. This EP will be available as digital tracks on www.angleofincidence.com, www.myspace.com/ncangleofincidence, and various other digital download websites. Hard copies complete with art work will be available at our gigs and on our website. To accompany the release of the Angle EP we will be hosting a CD Release Party where fans will have a chance to receive free merchandise and cd’s. Now for a little history. Each member of Angle of Incidence has spent a fair amount of time playing with other bands along their individual paths towards Angle.
Lead Vocalist, Jon Abbott played guitar and shared vocal duty in his first band, Spankin’ Filbert. Here, Jon honed his songwriting skills and creative lyrical process which stem from his root musical aspirations. He has also spent a great deal of time recording various hip-hop artists in his home studio set-up.
Drummer, Jeremy Abbott also played in Spankin’ Filbert as well as a few other country bands and rock cover bands. In his thirteen years on the drums his talents have stretched out into the depths of Jazz and Progressive music which most musicians desire to achieve. Jeremy also plays the piano, and he does it quite well. All by ear.
Guitarist, Phillip Duran has spent his fourteen years on guitar mastering his own flow of stringed energy and ability. His first band, known as Shavock, blossomed into an all originals band named Blist. After growing Blist’s repertoire of material to a substantial amount of music, he decided that the time for creative change was needed. This desire led him to the formation of Angle of Incidence. Phillip has also been recording himself and others in his time spent with the bands.
Bass player, Anthony (AJ) Andrews co-formed the band Blist with Phillip and also contributed to the writing of their material. Both of them were pushing for a change in the music and their desires became reality with Angle of Incidence. AJ spends his time playing the Bass, Guitar, and Drums continuously writing more material for Angle.
The members of the band put in countless hours of work towards the goals that they have set for themselves. Now that they have gotten the proverbial ball rolling they plan to grow their band into a business and achieve their life-long aspirations of playing great music for great people. So, keep an eye out for one of Raleigh’s favorite bands and don’t forget to pick up your copy of the Angle of Incidence EP. We will release a video for the song Get Wicked in the second quarter of 2008.
