   About Mick Murphy

[PRESS QUOTES]
:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

“One of the most ferocious and creative hard rock guitarists you’ll hear underground, above ground or bouncing off satellites.”
[Michael Molenda - Editor in Chief /Guitar Player Magazine 2009]

“Each song is a brutal slab of finely crafted mayhem, featuring stellar guitar work from Mick Murphy.”
[Brett Callwood – Metal Edge Magazine 2009]

"Mick just walked in, shredded and set the guitar down. The guy has guitar strings for veins, that level of skill has got to be superhuman."
[Rhiis Lopez/Ana Kefr – Donnarc Magazine Interview 2009]

"There are elements of thrash and old school metal at the core, with a hint of bluesy stoner vibe mixed in. There’s raw and dirty Southern fried solo work from Mick Murphy skillfully restrained and never resorting to fret—wank frippery; in between, harmonic pinches and lead flourishes add movement and dynamics to the My Ruin sonic juggernaut, one man easily fills the space that two lesser guitarists might cover between them."

[Paul Graham Raven – The Dreaded Press 2008]

“Mick Murphy is definitely his own man on stage and quickly makes his unique presence known from the start. Murphy shreds and rips his way through the set leaving the crowd in awe and well deserving of those three words written on the shirt I purchased at the bands merch booth after the show with his likeness—Master of Heaviosity.”
[Nell Mallard - Hot Press Magazine 2008]

“The guy that Guitar Player called ‘one of rocks most under-rated guitarists’, Mick Murphy through the entire set, rummaging through his impressive set of chops and solos to create a tapestry of sonic fury. Like a painter that utilizes various brushstrokes to achieve his vision. Murphy cranks out one riff after another going from wah drench heaviness to nimble hummingbird fast solos.”

[Morley Seaver – Bella Online.Com 2008]

“Mr Murphy is one heck of a mutha of a player. This isn't just case of bored guitar syndrome, with Joe Guitarist looking for an excuse to solo. But speaking of solos, Murph can do that with little problem he tries to burn his fingerprints off with some laser beam shredding"
[Morley Seaver – Bella Online.Com 2007]

“Mick Murphy is one of the most muscular riff forgers alive.”
[Greg Burke - LA Weekly 2006]

‘Mick Murphy plays virtuoso guitar like he is fondling a lovely lady.”
[Gemma Freeman - Metal Hammer 2006]

“There’s an interesting new tone, a tremendous solo, or a different groove everywhere you turn. Album littered with bitchin’ riffs, heavy tones and blazing solos.”
[Matt Blackett – Guitar Player Magazine 2005]

“Hot Randy Rhoads style guitar work.”
[FHM Magazine 2005]

“Seek out Murphy and beg him for a copy of his self-produced Neanderthal CD. The instrumental project is a jaw dropping collection of supersonic solos, colossal rhythm punctuations and fat ass licks. Trust me, if you name-check Murphy to your buddies, you’ll get all the cheese you deserve for turning them on to this emerging guitar hero.”
[Michael Molenda – Editor in Chief/Guitar Player Magazine 2003]

"One of todays most electrifying players, master of heaviosity-Mick Murphy mutates his love for 70's hard rock and 80's punk into a modern goulash of gargantuan, Sabbath approved riffing."
[Michael Molenda-Editor in Chief/Guitar Player Magazine 2003]

“Mick Murphy churns out the fuzz-laced sound like a young Iommi.”
[Joshua Sindell - Kerrang Magazine 2000]

[HISTORY]
:::::::::::::

I am the guitar player/producer/musical director/songwriter (and sometimes bassist and drummer) for MY RUIN (with wife/artist/lyricist/scream queen/designer/manager/lightning rod Tairrie B) since 2000. Tairrie and I started a doomy spoken word project called the LVRS in 2003 to explore other musical territory. A lady was picking through the frozen turkeys at the grocery store, but couldn't find one big enough for her family. She asked the stock boy, 'Do these turkeys get any bigger?'

The stock boy answered, 'No ma'am, they're dead.'

We had an idea! As many of you know, our designs are often influenced by “Day of the Dead” imagery, and we thought it would be cool to do a celebration of the “Dia de los Muertos” holiday – along with Halloween for all of us gringos. So here’s the idea – we dug through the archives and selected a bunch of designs (along with a few current ones) that have DOTD themes. Some of these designs haven’t been available in years. We’re offering them just for this celebration at a special price of $17.95 for T-shirts, $26.95 for Thermals, and $37.95 for Hoodies. But we have to move quickly to have them on your doorstep in time for Halloween. This special lasts only until midnight this Thursday, October 8. So click on this link for all the designs, http://somethingsacred.myshopify.com/collections/dia-de-los-muertos or check out some of them below and click on one you like. Many of them come in both men’s and women’s so make sure you have the right one. As always, thank you so much for being a part of our “familia.” Fanning the flames, Something Sacred www.somethingsacred.com – WEB/STORE www.twitter.com/somethingsacred - TWITTER www.facebook.com/pages/Something-Sacred/48928652150 - FACEBOOK
