"If The Clash had been born in The Emerald Isle... " - Backonthetracks.com --------------------------------------------
"...nearer the real classic kinda vibe that the Pogues emitted, they have that same attitude both in the mood and the subject matter... excellent, addictive and some great fiddle & whistle that shows Neck in a class of their own. And a deadly live act too!"
- World power or ruin, USA ----------------------------------------------------------------
"Combining Celtic lyricism with raging hard rock in a bid for what Thin Lizzy would have sounded like had it ever really exploited its roots. Very cool stuff."
--- High Bias, USA ----------------------------------------
"… Like the soundtrack to an imaginary ‘potato western’… Neck are a London-based band, but whose heart certainly remains in Dublin and are well acquainted with the place of alcohol in contemporary life...extraordinary!" - Roaring Jack Archives, AUS ------------------------------------------------
"Defiant flutes and punk’d up reels – real ones, real reels – Irish folk-punks, real ones!" - Organart, UK -------------------------------------------------------
"Another dose of manic psycho-ceilídh from the London-Irish heirs to the Pogues' legacy. …not for the fainthearted, this is incendiary, belligerent stuff and doesn't pull any punches..."
- Hot Press, Ireland -------------------------------------------------------------
"…If you ever head-bang until you pop a couple of veins
& dance like Michael Flatley after one too many red bulls!… mad craic!" - Irish Post, UK ------------------------------------
"...an inspiring set that can be compared to The Pogues firing on all cylinders! I can't think of a better way to cap off St. Patrick's Day!" - ChartAttack.com: live review of SXSW ------------------------------------------------------------
"Fans of Folk Punk a la Flogging Molly or Dropkick Murphys will be loving this, and it kicks the shite out of some of the other pale acts attempting a similar thing." - Punk News ---------------------------------------------------------
"A riot from start to finish…They’re brash, they’re loud, they like a drink..." - Irish World, UK ----------------------------------------------------------
--- "Bringing Irish Punk past The Pogues: at last - a worthy contender for the Celtic punk crown is born!" ...Irish Voice, NYC ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "A rip-roaring, irrepressible ‘Psycho-Ceilídh’ sound - matured over six years of furious global gigging!" ----------------------------------------------------- Known as 'The Heavy Artillery of Irish Music', the London-Irish band juxtaposes, perfectly, the swirling, spiritual abandon of authentic Traditional Irish music: (fiddle, tin-whistle, banjo and Uilleann bag-pipes); with the rip-roaring, electric energy of a full-on Punk band! This is all topped-off with the raucous, passionate vocals of song-smith Leeson O'Keeffe… a man with the undeniable pedigree of having stood beside Shane MacGowan in his band The Popes, as well as having guested on banjo with The Alabama 3, of TV’s “The Soprano’s” fame. ----------------------------------------------------- Their rowdy, uplifting live show's now established them as International Festival favourites from Moscow (in front of 7,000) to Texas: they had an anti-racist single 'Everybody's welcome to The Hooley!' in the UK Top 100 & Indie charts in March 2006 while the band were at SXSW in Austin. They've done six U.S. Tours & countless European, UK & Irish ones - hitting audiences square between the ears and raising new fans with every gig they've played; including with their U.S. contemporaries (& mates) The Dropkick Murphys & Flogging Molly. They headline small festivals in Europe & 2nd stages of larger ones (i.e. Paas Pop, Holland). And, amongst others, it's their fifth year at Glasonbury & Rebellion / Wasted in the UK this year. + They got encores at The Levellers' Beautiful Days & Solfest Festivals last year. ------------------------ Added to that, Boston’s 'Irish Punk' radio station/ web-zine/ compilation album that revels in all things Emerald and Loud is named for the Neck tune, ‘Shite & Onions’ and their "Psycho-Ceilídh" e.p. featured strongly in a New York's Irish Voice Top Ten releases chart, which included U2 and Sinéad O'Connor! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Make no mistake - with their roots, understanding & command of the music, NECK are most certainly the real deal when it comes to proper Irish Folk-fuelled Punk! --------------------------------------------------------------------- NECK Bring The Hooley!
NECK - " Psycho-Ceilídh Rockers! "'s Friend Space (Top 19)

So, I was in London this weekend, I got down to the Astoria, and not knowing about the early curfew I missed Flogging Molly... I went to the 12 bar, got nattering with some Norwegians and got so drunk, I don't remember seeing yous. But I'm sure it was a cracking night, and I'll make more of a effort to not get as drunk next time I catch a show!!
I've got to say ta, as I wouldn't have ventured to that end of town otherwise. Apparently there was a party on the underground, I'll have you know, I missed that too!
Hey Guys, Great set at the Black Horse Festval. You where by far the best act the whole weekend! Cheers Gary( The guy with the Beautiful Days T-Shirt on)
