In the very closure of the 20th century, in the middle of 99, we were inside that bar at Cardeal Arcoverde st. in Sao Paulo (Brazil), thinking about a name to call our just born band. By the way, people always go to bars to think on how calling their rock n roll bands, and it would be no different to us ... but, obviously, we..d go to a Dark, Weird and Sinister bar which name would be “Van Helsing”.... Oooh... exciting!!! But the important thing about all of this is to know that “Van Helsing” was just in front of the gates of "Sao Paulo..s Cemetery".
I..d like the band to have the name of some star, constellation, or some galaxy. The girls wanted me to get rid of that idea... in that moment, sort by magic, sort by fate, sort of the lack of other interesting thing to look at, we stared at the same time at the plaque above the entry: Necropole São Pavlo.
In that special moment, each one looked at the other..s eyes, and at the same time we repeated the name.... Necropolis.... and another rock band was named in this world.
After the release of our self-named debut EP, many gigs followed in sequence. By the end of that tour, our former singer left the band.
Joined by second guitar player Haggen, the band released in Jan 2004 their 10-track album, Black Redemption. Positive feedback by rock magazines and web sites... and many shows at the "Mafia do Casaco tour".
Haggen has officially been discontinued as a band member in the beggining of 2007. Around June of the same year, the band has already joined forces with former The Darlings Fabio the Quasar. His first assignment with Necropolis was on Retratos Subterraneos , a compilation of Brazilian independent bands, with their single "Reverseless".
Then the band released a version of Kraftwerk..s Hall of Mirrors to celebrate their brand new MySpace page. And the last new about them is that Fabio Quasar has left the band.
Stay tuned for more Necropolitan news coming soon! ^_^
