The formation of the band started in 2002 by the acquaintanceship of Drummer Erce Arslan and vocalist Berk Ünlü. By the year 2005, musical harmony and association of the two gave birth to ‘innovative’ Neoma whose musical perspective got even more enhanced by newly introduced progressive elements. The band made their first few demo tracks in the same year and recorded two songs named “Liberty” and “The Poet Fades Today”. Their consideration was to record a two-track demo which would be sent to music companies and to start playing for the big league in the world market. But after the unfortunate separation of their guitarist, band kept seeking for a new guitarist for a long period of time.
In 2006, starting to create their characteristic style, the band kept determined to pursue their primary intention and improved their capabilities by working on new techniques in their own studio. Being unyieldingly determined as from the beginning, Erce and Berk listened to many auditions and had the chance to make an informed decision. After so many auditions, the band achieved the performance they had in mind and maintained their persistent position in order to obtain an elevated musical sound.
In 2007, they recorded two songs they previously performed and added a brand new song, Never Surrender. During the recording sessions they performed in many recording studios like Modern Music Academy, Cangöz Music, Serdar Öztop Music and Tasoda with different tonmeisters. During the recording sessions, they encountered a number of problems with their rehearsal studio and were obliged to leave which convinced them to build their own studio by reconstructing a new structure from the ruins of an old confection plant which by then belonged to Erdem Ulubas’ father. The band survived a very long and problematic recording session which was followed by the hard construction work. Although they had to let guitarist Erdem Birgul leave, band members Erce, Berk, Erdem and Arda completed the construction of their own rehearsal studio in six months in spite of numerous sacrifices they had to make.
Right after finishing the restoration in the year 2008, they decided work with guitarist Emrah Canayakin. And finally in April, Neoma gave a concert to the crowd of Uludag University in Bursa and performed in Yeni Melek Performance Hall in Istanbul which was followed by German band Haggard. By then the band concentrated on their new songs and stage performance. Neoma also recorded an experimental medley consisting of common and recognized melodies which they mixed and edited themselves. In August they signed a contract with EMI (Müzikotek) Publishing Music Company for three songs they’ve recently recorded.
In 2009, after having a couple of gigs, Neoma played in Maçka Küçükçiftlik Park with Sweedish progressive metal band Opeth. Nowadays, they are working on the new repertoire of their album and chasing music companies for financial support.
Davulcu Erce Arslan ve vokalist Berk Ünlü’nün 2002 yilinda baslayan tanisikligi müzikal birlikteligi ve uyumlari 2005 yilinda progresif ögelerden etkilenen, yenilikçi Neoma’yi oluşturmuş oldu. Grup, kuruldugu sene içinde ‘Liberty’ ve ‘The Poet Fades Today’ adli iki sarkisini Deneyevi ve Mine Erkaya Stüdyolarinda kaydetti. Grubun düsüncesi 2 sarkilik bir demo olusturup, yurtiçi ve yurtdisi plak sirketlerine yollamak ve etkin faaliyetlere baslamakti, fakat gitaristinin zamansiz gruptan ayrilmasi nedeni ile grup uzun bir süre için gitarist arayişina girdi. Ayni sene içinde Erce, Mine Erkaya’nin stüdyosunda tecrübe amaçli Sepultura coveri olan Apocalyptica’nin yorumladigi ‘’Inquisition Symphony’’ adli eserin üzerine davul çalişmasi yapti.

kararliligini devam ettiren grup üyeleri, çaliştiklari stüdyoda boşluk sürecini bulduklari bir takim teknik çalismalar ile kendilerini geliştirdi. Bu süreç içinde baştan kararli olan Erce ve Berk, grup için kiraladiklari stüdyolarinda birçok müzisyen ile çalişarak, bu müzisyenleri süzgeçten geçirmiş oldu, birçok beraberlik ve ayriligin ardindan grup büyük bir aşama yaparak amaçladigi performansa ulasti. Bundan sonrasini daha iyiye ulaşmak, daha iyi müzik sergilemek için planlayan Neoma, iddiasini inatçi bir sabirla sürdürdü.
Bu dogrultuda, 2007 senesinde önceden kaydettigi 2 sarkiyi yenileyerek ve üstüne ‘Never Surrender’ adli şarkiyi kaydederek basladi. Kayit aşamasinda Modern Müzik Akademisi, Cangöz Müzik, Serdar Öztop Müzik, Tasoda gibi çeşitli stüdyolarda birçok tonmayster ile çalişti. Bu süreçte prova için kiraladiklari stüdyo ile sorun yasayan grup, stüdyodan ayrilmak zorunda kaldi. Bir yandan kayitlarina devam ederken bir yandan stüdyo arayan grup, en sonunda basçi Erdem Ulubas’in babasinin eski konfeksiyon atölyesini kendi stüdyosu yapmaya karar verdi. Uzun süren, çok zorlu ve sorunlu geçen kaydi tüm çikan engellere ragmen içine sindirerek bitirdi ve hemen ardindan stüdyo insaatina başladi. Fakat bu sirada gitarist Erdem Birgül ile yollarini ayirmak zorunda kaldi. Erce, Berk, Erdem ve klavyeci Arda Özüpek beraber maddi manevi hiçbir fedakarliktan kaçinmayarak, alti ay süren ugraştan sonra, kendi stüdyolarini oluşturmayi başardilar.
2008 senesinde stüdyolarini bitiren gruba gitarist Emrah Canayakin katildi. Neoma, Nisan ayinda Bursa Uludag Üniversitesi'nde ve Haggard ile Istanbul Yeni Melek Gösteri Merkezi'nde konserler verdi. Daha sonra grup yeni besteleri ve sahne performans çalişmalari üzerine yogunlasti. Bu esnada tecrübe amaçli aranje, kayit, miks ve masteringi tamamen kendilerine ait olan, bilinen melodilerden olusan bir potpüri hazirlayan Neoma Agustos ayinda Müzikotek (EMI Publishing) ile kaydettigi üç şarki için bir yayimcilik sözleşmesi imzaladi.
2009 senesinde Bronx Club'da Ankarali grup Dreamtone, Maçka Küçükçiftlik Park'ta İsveçli grup Opeth ile konserler veren grup şu an albüm hazirliklari içerisindedir.

STILL NASTY
“Once and for all" will be the title of Still Nasty’s upcoming LP. Recorded and mixed in "Primera Base" (Madrid), it will be produced by Jose López (Glow, The Soulbreaker Company, to name a few) and later mastered in Hollywood's own Precision Mastering Studios (Alice in Chains, Danzig, NIN, Stone Temple Pilots, etc.), in Los Angeles (USA). A whole lotta hard rock, atmospheres, and a touch of stoner make up these Spaniard's debut, which will also contain some interesting collaborations. The band is taking into account different options to publish the upcoming LP.
