Biography
In 2002, she moved to New York City for 6 months and had the opportunity to work for the hip hop label Rawkus Entertainment (well known through Mos Def, Hi Tek, Pharoahe Monch, Talib Kweli, Big L, ...) as a Media Relations Assistant where she helped promoting the compilation "Soundbombing 3". This experience in the heart of the US hip hop music industry was something unique. She could also fulfil her passion for black music while singing for The International Gospel Choir in Harlem, NY.
Back from NYC to Switzerland, she collaborated with Marco Da Mata, a minimal, deep house dj and producer, as a vocal artist. Since 2004, she specialised into deejaying. Because of her diverse musical background, Ngoc Lan likes spinning styles as different as hip hop or deep house. Her particular musical interest goes as well to soul, fresh funk 80's, UK garage, nu-soul, post dubstep and many more.
After few years of her confirmed dj career, she has participated to the Red Bull Thre3Style contest. Thanks to her original musical selection and to her energy, she has reached the 3rd place as the best party rocker in Switzerland.
She is also a member of the crew, Food for ya Soul based in Lausanne, Switzerland. It is a combined team of dj’s, producers and graffers. They have released 3 compilations where you can discover a selection of soulful tunes, a real treasure for the dedicated soul music lover.
In addition, Ngoc Lan is one of Yarah Bravo’s official dj for lives and has shared the stage with many of her super heroes like, Dâm-Funk, Peanut Butter Wolf, James Pants, Mayer Hawthorne, Tokimonsta, Onra, Lefto, Foreign Beggars, Son Of Kick, Fulgeance, Débruit, Kissey Asplund, Lorn, Amenta, Kurtis Blow, Dj Vadim, Dj Nu-Mark, The Jungle Brothers, ...
