"Nigel Place is a singer-songwriter who has found his own voice and applied it to the self-deprecatory folk-rock of ‘Sad Songs’, with its thought-provoking lyrics. ‘The Last Resort’ is slower and more introspective, and I’m not sure if we haven’t had our fill of that stuff. ‘Bitter Twist’ has a touch of Declan O’Rourke about it. It has the makings of a classy pop track and it gets a lift with decent harmonies. Place may be onto something different enough to get him through the mass of singer-songwriters already out there." Jackie Hayden, HOTPRESS Nov 07.

"Nigel Place is a singer-songwriter who has found his own voice” & “Place may be onto something different enough to get him through the mass of singer-songwriters already out there." Jackie Hayden, HOTPRESS Nov 07.
Previous highlights include being selected from over 700 acts to perform as part of the Hard Working Class Heroes event in Dublin in '06, establishing him on the Irish singer/songwriter scene as definitely one to watch and with this continuing in 2007 being selected from thousands of Artists all over Europe to play at the “City Showcase” event in London, which in the past has had acts such as Ray LaMontagne, Amy Winehouse and Razorlight (to name a few) play.
Nigel's music has been played and he himself has played live on RTE Radio, BBC Radio Ulster and also Newstalk 106FM. His feel-good pop song "Sad Songs" was featured on 2FM DJ Jenny Huston’s Coca-Cola Podcast and was a featured “Artist of the Week” on “02 Making Waves” Podcast for Podcasting Ireland.
Having started out on the Singer/Songwriter scene in Dublin and first playing at one of Dave Murphy's infamous Tuesday nights upstairs at the International Bar, became a regular there and was one of the guests selected to play at the special closing shows to mark that era. Nights like these nights saw such acts as Damien Rice, Damien Dempsey, Mundy, Paddy Casey, Declan O'Rourke, Roesy and Gemma Hayes all take the stage on a regular basis.
With Nigel aiming to follow in the footsteps of his contemporaries and having met up with Len Arran (of Skunk Anansie/Skin fame) led to the recording of a 4 track EP called "Broadcast To Anyone Who'll Listen", produced by Len.
This year will see Nigel complete the recording of his debut album and will feature in the music for the upcoming TV Pilot show "The Coalboat Kids".
