Singer/Songwriter/Pianist/Composer/Producer/Performer... just the beginning of words used to describe the talent of NiTasha Jackson. No matter what words may be used, NiTasha is inarguably gifted with music and has been since an early age. At just 18 months old, NiTasha displayed the markings of a child prodigy. She could be found "playing" her grandmother's organ for long periods of time, always making up her own songs, always singing and recording herself on a tape player. At the age of 5, NiTasha began studying music at Yamaha Music School in her hometown of Fredericksburg, Virginia. Here, she would not only learn to read music and play by ear, but her gift for composition would be cultivated. Before her sixth birthday, she had written and notated her first song.
Over the next nine years, NiTasha would receive numerous awards and recognition for her compositions on state, regional and national levels from Yamaha Junior Original Composers' Concert (JOC), the Virginia Federation of Music Clubs, and many other organizations. In 1992, NiTasha participated in her first Yamaha JOC, a concert where young composers are selected by Yamaha Music Corporation to showcase their original pieces. Later, she was featured in JOC concerts in Virginia, Maryland, New York, New Jersey, and California. In 2000, NiTasha was one of nine selected from the U.S., Canada, and Japan to perform at the Yamaha Highlights 2000 Concert. At age 17, she would be the first musician at a JOC concert event to include vocals in her performance since its start in 1972. Yamaha invited her on two separate occasions to perform at the NAMM (National Association of Music Merchants) Show in Los Angeles to showcase Yamaha Pianos and their music education system.
Before she was 18, NiTasha had worked closely with several professional artists and arrangers including Shannon Grama, Philip Keveren, M.B. Gordy (free-lance drummer percussionist for various artists including Neil Diamond, John Tesh, Wilco, and Green Day) and Linda Martinez (keyboardist/composer for Destiny's Child and MTV).
stay tuned...
news. dates. and all sorts of marvelous things coming soon!
Just noticed you mentioned C.S. Lewis. There is an audio version of "The Screwtape Letters" where John Cleese does the reading. Amazing! The version I had was abridged, but there may be an unabridged version somewhere.
Love a bit of The Buckster. I've been listening to the first two doves albums like crazy lately. It's always good to dig out old stuff. It's surprising how much you can re-discover! x
I actually camped out for tix for a Paul McCartney show, back when camping out actually was worth the effort. Had second row center seats at the Superdome. He glared at me when I yelled, "Play Stairway To Heaven". (Yes, there was alcohol involved).
If I could meet anyone, it would be Billie Holiday. Assuming the person had to be alive, though, I'd say Craig Finn (of The Hold Steady), Regina Spektor, Bob Dylan, and probably many others.
Quick returns aren't my strong suit either, but I'm good. Thanks for asking! Working a lot more than playing now, but looking forward to seeing Plants and Animals next month in Baltimore.
Oh, and you can add me to the list of people that hasn't met Jack White (or Jack Black for that matter, though I did see Tenacious D live once).
well, you're a beautiful "mutt" if you say so, but i wasn't calling you a dog. i'm making that noise dumb dudes make when they see a pretty girl, "arf arf". hahahah. i'm doing pretty fine, just won a dance competition, and laughing at that. still just kind've taken back by that. other than that, i'm wonderfer. i hope things are going well for you nitasha. te veo luego :)
heyyy, just to let you know we've got FOUR brand new SEXY recordings up as of today, and we'd love it if you took a listen! Let us know what you think, we can take it on the chin :P
Hellooooo. I'm fine thanks. Just got a new band up and running. It's in it's early stages atm, just trying to find the right sound that we can all agree on ha. I haven't heard that remix you mentioned before. I will have to check that one out.
So how's things with yourself. Up to anything exciting and new? x
I think that was towards the end of when they were good. Art Alexakis was so much better when he was depressed and had drug issues. I didn't like them as much when they became all poppy. And the cover of Brown Eyed Girl that they did was just...
Eugh.
Anyway, I digress...
I'm not too bad thank you. Getting towards the end of my first year at Uni now and lots and lots of work needs to be done and I can't be bothered to do it!
Not gonna get much done this weekend either cuz I'm going to two gigs and I've got a stag party on Saturday. Upsy Daisy.
Haha! Its okay really ... i probably forgot i commented you anyways. I cant even remember what I did yesterday! Im good thankyou :) and yes i did like it alot ... couldnt stop listening to it :D xx

So I'm listening to "Bedhead Baby" yet again, and I'm thinking a Pennsylvania or Baltimore show is in order. A show by you, I mean. People who would pay to hear me sing need psychiatric help.
Sorry to be chain commenting like this, but it's the best way to speak to you all. I hope everyones well! We certainly are and we'd like to extend an invitation to you to join us! We are playing the following events shortly. So please come see us and say hi. And in the mean time, leave us a comment and have a chat! I get bored when I'm not playing! Much love Sean (Toxins)
